Adventure Quests in Honkai: Star Rail are excellent sources of materials, Stellar Jades, and Trailblaze EXP, especially in the early game where players need significant amounts of all three. Some of these side quests are very quick to finish, while others require a little bit more effort than usual.

After progressing through Honkai: Star Rail's main storyline, reaching Trailblaze Level 24, and completing the Out of Control mission, Serval will send players a text regarding Molly, her new assistant. This will set off a relatively long side mission that will take the Trailblazer through the Fragmentum in hopes of opening a locked, heirloom tin box. Here are all the steps needed to finish it.

Downtown Belobog

To kick things off, players will start in Belobog's Administrative District, where they have to help Serval and Molly find someone to assist with their problem. The only real choice players have here is Pela. Serval will suggest looking for her out in the city, so go back to the Administrative District and visit the Book Merchant in their kiosk near the flower shop.

Pela will help Molly decipher the line of code in her locked box and suggest that the key to opening the heirloom is in the Corridor of Fading Echoes. After finishing the conversation, players will be able to assemble their team and head to the new quest area.

Old Fortress Scavenge Quest Guide

In this part of the quest, players need to dive into the Corridor of Fading Echoes with Pela to find a number of clues regarding Molly's locked container. Findie will be available during this section of the quest, but using it does get confusing at times. Here are the three locations players need to visit:

Clue #1

The first clue in Honkai Star Rail's Old Fortress Scavenge quest

The first spot is near a locked gate close to the starting point. After spawning, go down the alley, turn right, then left. Place Findie right in front of the barbed wire fence near the gate, then click on the button that pops up to get the Portrait With A Clue.

Clue #2

After taking the first clue, follow the blue objective marker back up the stairs, and open the locked gate. Go through the courtyard and passed the arched entryway. The second clue is in the pile of boxes right next to the exit.

Clue #3

For the final clue, follow the blue quest marker again to the yard with the big generator. Then, turn right and follow the winding alleys leading up to an isolated section of the map. The clue is on the ground near the edge of the wall.

Rotating the Gear Bridge

Once all clues are collected, head back down the alleys and open up the locked gate that leads to the Gear Bridge. Interact with the control panel and turn the bridge in the following order:

  • Clockwise
  • Counterclockwise
  • Clockwise

Once the bridge is unlocked, turn it counterclockwise twice. Rejoin Pela on the other side and defeat the Elite enemy at the quest marker to finish this section of the quest. This fight isn't particularly hard, and players can make do with any team composition they're comfortable with.

After finishing the fight, players will be transported back to the Neverwinter Workshop. Speak with Molly and give her the portrait from the Corridor of Fading Echoes. The two mechanics will give players a brief history lesson on the Engine of Creation as well as the engineers that built it. Exhaust the dialogue options, and the Ancestor's Drill Bit quest will come to a close.

Honkai: Star Rail is now available on Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation version is in development.
