Among the many similarities between Honkai: Star Rail and Genshin Impact, a Trial of Ascension is one of them. In Genshin, completing the trial will increase World Level, while in Honkai: Star Rail, the challenge will increase the Equilibrium level. The first Trial of Equilibrium unlocks at Trailblaze Level 20, shortly after finishing the To Rot or To Burn main quest.

The trial includes two tough opponents, an Ice out of Space and Searing Prowler. The two have opposite weaknesses and strengths, which may make it tough for players with limited characters. Fortunately, the Trial of Equilibrium level 1 can easily be completed with F2P characters in Honkai: Star Rail. Here's everything players need to know to do it.

Players with limited characters in Honkai: Star Rail can easily finish the Trial of Equilibrium level 1 with only free units. For the first trial, here’s a setup players can follow:

Character (Level)

Lightcone (Level)

Dan Heng (30)

River Flows In Spring (30)

March 7th (25+)

Amber (25+)

Asta (20+)

Meshing Cogs or Chorus (25+)

Natasha (20+)

Quid Pro Quo (20+)

Alternatively, those with confidence can replace their Natasha with Serval or Trailblazer. In this case, it’s best for Serval to be at level 25+ with a level 30 Make the World Clamor or The Seriousness of Breakfast Lightcone. The former is obtainable via a limited Web Event (ends on May 24 UTC +8), while the latter can be obtained through quests or from Chests. For example, one is rewarded for opening the triple authentication door in Honkai: Star Rail.

As for the Physical Trailblazer, they should be at level 25+, and players can equip them with the Woof! Walk Time! Weapon, preferably level 25+.

The mentioned Lightcones can be collected through the following means:

  • River Flows In Spring: Operation Briefing (Part 2) - Interastral Guide.
  • Amber: 3-star Light Cone from Warping.
  • Meshing Cogs or Chorus: 3-star Light Cone from Warping.
  • Quid Pro Quo: Trailblaze Level 20 reward - Pom-Pom.
  • Woof! Walk Time!: Gift for spending 390 Hertareum.

As for Honkai: Star Rail Relics, players can just use whatever is available; playing with level 0 Relics or none at all won’t matter too much here. Additionally, it’s best if Trailblazers enter the domain with full Energy and Technique Point.

How To Beat Equilibrium Trial Level 1 In Honkai Star Rail For F2P Players

beat trial equilibrium 1 honkai star rail strategy

The strategy to beat the Trial of Equilibrium level 1 in Honkai: Star Rail is not too complicated as the enemies aren’t too aggressive. First, players should approach the Ice Out Of Space, then:

  1. Use Asta’s Technique to start the battle; this will remove Everwinter Shadewalker’s Toughness and cause them to lose a considerable amount of HP.
  2. Hit one of the minions with Dan Heng’s Ult, then use his Skill on another Everwinter Shadewalker.
  3. Hit the first minion with Asta's Skill to beat it (if it’s not yet beaten).
  4. Use March 7th’s Ult, then Skill on Dan Heng.
  5. Use Asta’s Ult.
  6. Basic Attack with Natasha.
  7. Finish the second minion if it’s still alive.
  8. Once both minions are gone, grind the main boss with Asta’s Skill and Dan Heng. Only Basic Attack with March and Natasha and heal/shield when necessary.
  9. When the boss is in low health, focus on regaining every character's Ultimate before killing it.

Next, head to the Searing Prowler, but before approaching it, make sure to use Dan Heng’s Technique first. Then, initiate the battle with March 7th’s Technique. Once the combat starts:

  1. Cast March’s Ult.
  2. Use Dan Heng to beat one of the minions
  3. Use Asta’s Ult then Basic Attack
  4. Shield or heal if necessary
  5. After the minions are defeated, focus on shielding different characters with March to ensure a constant Ice counter. Dan Heng is the priority due to his Talent that boosts his Wind PEN if he’s targeted by an ally’s Skill.
  6. Asta and Natasha should keep using Basic Attack while Dan Heng tries to kill the boss with his strong single-target hits.

Equilibrium Trial Level 1 In Honkai Star Rail - Non-F2P Alternatives

There are a lot of non-F2P alternatives for the Trial of Equilibrium level 1 in Honkai: Star Rail. The following 5-star characters are especially notable for this trial: Seele, Welt, Bronya, and Bailu. Players can make a team like:

  • Seele + Welt + Bronya + Bailu
  • Seele + Welt + Dan Heng + Natasha
  • Seele + Bronya + March 7th + Asta

Other 5-star units are also viable, but due to the Fire & Ice limitation, it’s best to focus on characters that are strong on one side but not weakened on the other side; so it’s either Quantum, Imaginary, or Wind.

Honkai: Star Rail is now available on Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation version is in development.
