The Doomsday Beast can be considered the first boss of Honkai: Star Rail. Most players may be overwhelmed by its sheer size as well as its attacking methods since the beast can cause massive damage.

The Prologue chapter allows Trailblazer to fight the Doomsday Beast during the final parts of the “Lingering Shadows” Mission in Honkai: Star Rail. The boss’s purpose is to give players an idea about the game’s mechanics and to get comfortable with it. Additionally, fighting the Doomsday Beast will teach the importance of Weakness Break. After that, the beast is available as a weekly boss thanks to the Echo of War mechanic upon completing the “In the Dangerous Muddy Swamp” Quest.

How To Beat Doomsday Beast In Honkai Star Rail

The Doomsday Beast boss fight is split into two phases, and both HP needs to be emptied out to beat the enemy. Here are a couple of tips on how to defeat the Doomsday Beast in Honkai: Star Rail.

Take Care Of The Hands Before The Engine

In each phase, the Doomsday Beast will attack with three main parts; the Antimatter Engine, Dawn’s Left Hand, and Disaster’s Right Hand. When all of them are down, the boss will become vulnerable. The best strategy is to focus on one part at a time, preferably the hands, instead of attacking all three parts together (breaking the Engine without the hands will grant an achievement, but it's not the best way to beat the boss in the early game).

A simple method would be to target each part’s weakness to cause Weakness Break. This way, the hand's turn will be delayed, and players have more chances to act.

Get Ready For The Second Phase

The boss has two phases and the first one is easier than the second as the Doomsday Beast will become more aggressive and cause heavier damage. Therefore, when the first health bar is almost spent, try to collect Skill Points and regenerate Energy for the Ultimate as it’s much needed in the second phase.

The boss will not move once it's down, so players can use the moment to heal, shield, and collect Skill Points all at the same time.

Beware Of Charged Attack

During the second phase of the boss fight, the Doomsday Beast will regain his HP and use the same attacks, but more aggressively. Additionally, at some point during the fight, the monster in Honkai: Star Rail will prepare a charged attack called the Cataclysm Precursor.

The next time the boss moves, it will unleash Impending Doom, which can be deadly. Use the charging time to protect squishy characters like those who follow the Path of the Hunt.

Doomsday Beast F2P Team In Honkai Star Rail

Doomsday Beast in Honkai: Star Rail can easily be beaten with a lineup of F2P characters. Players can use the following units:

  • Dan Heng: Hunt character that can also break Wind weakness.
  • March 7th: Can protect teammates and reduce Toughness with her Counter and Ultimate.
  • Asta: Doomsday Beast is fully weak to Fire, so Asta's Element is brilliant for the fight. Additionally, once the Engine is the only one remaining, Asta can easily destroy the enemy's Toughness.
  • Natasha: Great healer that can also cleanse (with A2 Trace unlocked).
  • Trailblazer: Doomsday Beast's Engine is weak to Physical, so Physical MC can be great to weaken it.

Notable Support Characters Against The Doomsday Beast

Luckily for players, it’s possible to choose a random Support from the friend list before entering the boss domain and fully control it. Some of the best characters are:

pela ultimate in honkai star rail
  • Pela: Can remove buffs from the hands using her Skill and decrease the enemy's DEF using her Ultimate.
march 7th skill and passive in honkai star rail
  • March 7th: Her Skill offers players a shield that triggers a follow-up attack in Honkai: Star Rail when a shielded character receives damage. On top of faster Weakness Break on the hand with Ice weakness, this will ensure the team’s survivability, especially in the second phase.
natasha skill in honkai star rail
  • Natasha: A great healer that can keep regaining every teammate’s health. Her Ultimate is very useful in the second phase when the Doomsday Beast targets all four characters and unleashes a critical hit. When her T2 (A2 Trace) is unlocked, she can also cleanse debuff.
himeko passive in honkai star rail
  • Himeko: Thanks to the constant Weakness Break, Himeko’s passive of triggering a follow-up attack if she’s fully charged when a break happens will certainly come in handy. Additionally, while the three parts have different weaknesses to certain elements, all of them share the same weakness, Fire.
selee passive in honkai star rail
  • Seele: Can cause massive damage to a single target either using her Skill or Ultimate. Also, making her defeat one of the hands will trigger her passive, granting her an extra turn.
bailu skill in honkai star rail
  • Bailu: Works similarly to Natasha, but her kit offers more healing. Bailu’s Skill will heal two random times on top of the intended one (it can also heal the same unit thrice, but it's random). Her Ultimate also applies Invigoration to allies which heals them every time they got hit. Furthermore, the first time a teammate is downed, Bailu can revive them (only once per battle).
clara in honkai star rail
  • Clara: Great to protect the team in the first phase, and is great at reducing the enemy's Toughness if they're weak to Physical; also great at damage dealing to destroy the boss' Engine.
sushang in honkai star rail
  • Sushang: Physical Hunt character that can target the Doomsday Beast's Engine.

Honkai: Star Rail is now available on Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation version is in development.
