Taking photos in Honkai Star Rail is pretty simple, and anyone who's played Genshin Impact should feel right at home. Those who haven't played HoYoverse's previous release might find this feature hard or cumbersome to use, however, so here's a short guide covering all of its important bits.

How to Use Photo Mode in Honkai Star Rail

The Photo Mode screen in Honkai Star Rail

First, hit the ESC button or tap the Phone icon in the upper-left corner of the screen. This will show Honkai Star Rail's pause screen, which contains shortcuts to almost every useful menu in the game. On the right-hand side, players should be able to see the Camera icon right below the Settings button. Click on this to enter Photo Mode. Players may need to finish the lengthy prologue section before this button becomes visible.

The camera view can be moved by adjusting the bottom slider or dragging the screen around. Meanwhile, the three buttons on the right let players toggle their camera's view perspective, hide the UI, and reset the camera angle. The first-person perspective mode is especially useful for capturing photos of landscapes and characters around the world.

While in Photo Mode, the button on the upper left will give players access to some additional settings like character expressions and poses. This screen also contains options that keep the player's personal info and the game's watermark from appearing on saved photos. Idle animations differ depending on the character, and unfortunately, since Honkai Star Rail does not feature world visitations, multiple players cannot take photos together like in Genshin Impact.

Players can apply a variety of filters to the pictures they take using Photo Mode. This can be accessed by pressing the Edit button that appears after a snapshot is taken.

For PC players, any picture taken using the game's Photo Mode will be saved in the following address by default:

Meanwhile, mobile users can find their photos in their device's gallery.
