Building characters is at the heart of the progression path in Honkai Star Rail. Farming for items like relics, upgrade materials, and Light Cones is important, but if players aren't able to reach major breakpoints in the story, they'll only be able to increase their power by so much. This is where Equilibrium comes in.

Equilibrium Level is the equivalent of World Level in Honkai Star Rail. Raising this will unlock a number of upgrade options for characters, but everything in the world will become tougher response. At the same time, the rewards received from enemies and activities will be better in both quality and quantity whenever applicable. Ideally, players should always try to upgrade their Equilibrium Level (assuming their characters can afford to fight harder monsters), but actually doing so is easier said than done.

How to Raise Equilibrium Level in Honkai Star Rail

Honkai Star Rail's Trial of the Equilibrium quest fight

There are a couple of steps involved in increasing Equilibrium Level. The first thing players need to know is that this is tied to their Trailblaze Level. They will be able to raise their Equilibrium Level after reaching TB20.

Upon reaching this breakpoint, a disembodied voice will start talking to the Trailblazer. Check the quests screen, and the Trial of the Equilibrium mission should be visible. This will ask players to travel to a specified location in Honkai Star Rail and clear out a few challenging enemies in an instanced domain, so make sure to bring the best characters available. Clear the targets out, and the quest will be completed. Players who fail a Trial of the Equilibrium will be able to try as many times as they want until they complete the encounter.

Calyx difficulty in Honkai Star Rail can be adjusted

Blindly completing these trials is not advised since the enemies in worlds with high Equilibrium tiers will have higher maximum level caps than usual. A world's Equilibrium Level cannot be changed, but players can choose what difficulty Calyx runs and other similar activities can be before starting them by clicking on the Roman numerals on the left side of their challenge overview screens.

Trial of the Equilibrium will be available upon reaching Trailblaze Levels 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 65, and 70. Getting those higher Equilibrium levels will take a while, especially considering how time-consuming Trailblaze EXP farming can be. Complete quests and keep doing daily activities in order to level up faster.
