The further Honkai: Star Rail's story progresses, players will be able to upgrade their Trailblazer in a variety of ways—this includes total shifts in role, playstyle, and damage type courtesy of whatever events the story might throw. The first drastic addition the Trailblazer gets is the ability to align themselves with the Path of Preservation, which comes with a cool, flaming lance.
Once players unlock Fire Trailblazer after completing the Belobog storyline, they'll have a tank that's more than capable of protecting the entire team through the hardest of Honkai: Star Rail's content. They deal and absorb damage in equal magnitudes, and overall, this character is one of the best one's players can build for any of their teams.
Honkai: Star Rail Fire Trailblazer Build
Fire Trailblazer is primarily a defensive specialist like March 7th. However, their kit's focus is split between drawing enemy aggro and dealing big bursts of Fire DMG. This build leans more towards the tank part of their skillset, but players can still expect this to deal respectable AOE damage.
- Core Stat Priorities: DEF%, SPD, HP%
- Planar Ornament Stats: DEF%, Energy Regen Rate
- Relic Sets: Knight of Purity Palace (4PC), Belobog of the Architects (2PC)
- Light Cones: Moment of Victory (5-star), Day One of My New Life (4-star), Landau's Choice (4-star)
A higher total DEF stat results in stronger Shields, ultimates, and enhanced basic attacks. Knight of Purity Palace is the perfect Relic set for this as it covers both bases at once with its bonuses to DEF% and Shield Strength. Players can swap their Relic sets around as long as they get the desired stats listed above, but ideally, Knight of Purity Palace should be in all of their Trailblazer's slots together with Belobog of the Architects.
For Light Cones, Moment of Victory is hands-down the best 5-star option. It boosts both DEF and Energy Regen, allowing the Trailblazer to spam their most damaging moves while remaining tanky enough to absorb incoming attacks. Day One of My New Life is a good 4-star alternative to this. Also, consider Landau's Choice when running a single tank setup.
Fire Trailblazer Traces and Leveling Order
Level up Fire Trailblazer's skills according to this order:
- War-Flaming Lance (Ultimate)
- Treasure of the Architects (Talent)
- Basic attack
- Ever-Burning Amber (Skill)
Despite Ever-Burning Amber being their most important tanking ability, it is at the bottom of the leveling order because of its abysmal gains. Each level increases the skill's Damage Reduction by only 1%. The upgrade materials are better off spent on Treasure of the Architects, which makes Fire Trailblazer's shields stronger.
Also, take note that while Ever-Burning Amber has a 100% base chance to taunt, some enemies might ignore this effect completely. Having Effect Hit Rate on Fire Trailblazer's Relics may help with this, but it's often better to just attack enemies to provide shields instead of relying on taunt application all the time. This is also the reason why stacking DEF is so important for this character—Effect Hit Rate is a wasted stat considering how Fire Trailblazer can just use their passive shielding to mitigate incoming damage from enemies they fail to taunt.
Players will be able to get all of Fire Trailblazer's Eidolons as they play Honkai: Star Rail. E1 and E2 are especially important as they buff the character's DMG and DEF, respectively. Once fully upgraded, Fire Trailblazer will be able to both deal high basic attack damage while providing strong, teamwide protection. Maxing this character out as early as possible is highly recommended.
