Sushang is one of the most versatile damage dealers in Honkai: Star Rail. She beats enemies into submission with her assortment of Cloudfencer moves, dealing barrages of Physical DMG that quickly whittle away HP and Toughness bars alike.

Like other DPS characters in the game, Sushang needs a fair bit of investment before she can reach the peak of her power. Players will need to get the right stats and gear piece synergies to get this 4-star unit rolling. Here's how to build Sushang in Honkai: Star Rail.

Honkai: Star Rail Sushang Build

Sushang is a Hunt character who specializes in inflicting immense single-target damage. She is similar to characters like Dan Heng, but instead of manipulating the SPD of enemies, Sushang relies on a very important combat mechanic: Weakness Breaking (more on this later). Still, her build path remains consistent with the other DPS units in Honkai: Star Rail.

  • Core Stat Priorities: CRIT, ATK%, SPD
  • Planar Ornament Stat Priorities: Physical DMG, ATK%
  • Relic Sets: Champion of Streetwise Boxing (4PC), Space Sealing Station (2PC)
  • Light Cones: In The Night (5-Star), Cruising in the Stellar Sea (5-Star), Swordplay (4-star), Only Silence Remains

Players should stack as much ATK as they can early in the game until they can get a chest piece with CRIT Rate for its main stat. Otherwise, keep hunting for Relics with enough CRIT stats to meet the ideal 1:2 chance-to-damage ratio.

Champion of Streetwise Boxing is Sushang's best Relic set because it can boost her damage by a significant amount. Players can mix this up with either the Wild Wheat or Thief of Shooting Meteor sets for a more upfront bonus that's stronger in shorter encounters.

As for Planar Ornaments, Space Sealing Station is the most optimal choice for Sushang thanks to its percentage increases to ATK. However, players can swap this for either Inert Salsotto or Celestial Differentiator to compensate for any missing CRIT stats.

The limited In The Night Light Cone is a top-tier choice for all Hunt units thanks to its CRIT Rate and ATK buffs. However, Cruising in the Stellar Sea is a very good alternative to this, especially for characters who are struggling to get their CRIT Rate stat up. Swordplay is also an ideal Light Cone choice in drawn-out battles like boss fights.

Sushang Abilities and Trace Leveling Order

To get the most out of Sushang's skills while leveling up, upgrade her Traces with this priority order in mind:

  • Shape of Taixu: Dawn Herald (Ultimate)
  • Cloudfencer Art: Mountainfall (Skill)
  • Dancing Blade (Talent)
  • Basic attack

Take Sushang's Ascension Traces as soon as they become available, and unlock her floating passive nodes when the need for them arises.

As mentioned earlier, Sushang's damage is dictated by whether an enemy's Toughness bar is broken or not. Her main skill, Cloudfencer Art: Mountainfall, is guaranteed to deal bonus damage against broken enemies, and her Talent, Dancing Blade, increases Sushang's SPD for every Weakness Broken enemy on the field. To top it off, her ultimate advances her next turn forward by 100% after usage.

With enough SPD and Weakness Broken enemies on the field, Sushang will be able to unleash a torrent of empowered blows. However, this makes her very hungry for Skill Points, and she loses much of her DPS potential against non-broken targets. With that in mind, Sushang works best with SP-neutral characters like Natasha as well as units who can manipulate SPD like Welt and Asta.

Honkai: Star Rail is now available on Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation version is in development.
