March 7th's brand of tanking is a little different from the other characters in Honkai: Star Rail. Instead of directly soaking up incoming damage herself, she helps the team survive by giving them strong shields that also draw in enemy aggro. This slight nuance also means that players have some niche options to choose from when deciding who to pair March with.

Like a few other characters in the game, March is extremely versatile. She can fit in any team to tackle any challenge Honkai: Star Rail has to offer. However, she still has her own suite of strengths, and only very specific team comps will be able to bring out the best in her. Here are two specialized teams revolving around March 7th.

The Clara Counter-Attack Team

Clara and Svarog in Honkai: Star Rail

Technically, this will work with any unit that has a counter-attack feature. It just so happens that Clara is the only other character in Honkai: Star Rail 1.0 that has this mechanic.

  • DPS: Clara
  • Tank: March 7th
  • Healer: Natasha/Bailu
  • Flex slot: Sub-DPS/Support

March can increase the aggro on Clara by putting a shield on her. When the latter uses her Ultimate, the likelihood of enemies attacking Clara greatly increases. Every time a shielded Clara is attacked, both Svarog and March will retaliate with counter-attacks. This combo is strong in the Forgotten Hall, and it can be ludicrously overpowered in the Simulated Universe where players can stack blessings of the Elation.

Have a healer ready to help the team recover from AOE attacks. In ideal scenarios, March should always be using her shield on Clara, which means players won't have to worry about their favorite little sister getting hurt.

The flex slot on this team can be occupied by an ST damage dealer like Dan Heng or an offensive Support unit like Pela or Tingyun.

March 7th Permafreeze Comp

Herta's damage in Honkai: Star Rail's Simulated Universe

This team will be most effective in the Simulated Universe, though it can work elsewhere if players invest in Effect Hit Rate. With enough blessings of the Remembrance, March, and her teammates will be able to consistently freeze enemies while simultaneously applying a bunch of other powerful effects.

  • DPS: Any (Yanqing, preferably)
  • Tank: March 7th
  • Healer: Natasha/Bailu
  • Flex slot: Herta/Pela

March's Ultimate has a 50% base chance to Freeze enemies by default. This procs surprisingly often so long as enemies aren't resistant to Ice, so having a bit of extra Effect Hit Rate on her Relics should make her more consistent across the battles she fights.

During Simulated Universe runs, players will want to get as many Ice characters as possible to synergize with the Remembrance's blessings. Herta shines best in this game mode thanks to her AOE Ice attacks. However, since her effectiveness falls off everywhere else, Pela should take her slot.

Additionally, players should prioritize getting blessings that increase Effect HIt Rate or have additional effects that inflict Freeze or Dissociation. Outside the Simulated Universe, this team comp will become heavily dependent on the DPS carry that players decide to bring. Yanqing is the most ideal pick here since he has both high damage and a base chance to Freeze targets.

Honkai: Star Rail is now available on Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation version is in development.
