Sushang offers excellent single-target DPS, and she's one of the few characters in Honkai: Star Rail who can kick enemies hard when they're already down. Such a punishment-heavy playstyle requires a fair bit of investment into this character, as well as careful consideration of who players decide to bring with them to a fight.

Every character in Honkai: Star Rail works best when they're used according to their strengths and weaknesses. This is also true for Sushang, especially since much of her consistency relies on pressing the advantage. Here are two carry-oriented teams to help get the most value out of this character.

Sushang Team Comps In Honkai: Star Rail

Sushang is an S-tier character when it comes to dealing Physical damage versus single targets. Her Skill damage spikes significantly whenever she's attacking Weakness Broken enemies, so she's best paired with teams that can help set that condition up for her.

Sushang Hypercarry Team

The standard double Support setup works well on every DPS character, provided players can survive to pull off the right skill rotations and unleash their big burst combos.

  • DPS: Sushang
  • Support 1: Pela/Tingyun
  • Support 2: Bronya
  • Healer

As mentioned above, Sushang relies on having the enemy's Toughness bar broken for her Skill to deal more damage. Because of that, players must always bring three other characters who can exploit enemy Weaknesses. Playing a double Support team will only become better once more Nihility and Harmony characters get added to the game.

It's worth noting here that Sushang can quickly burn through buffs applied to her due to her Ultimate advancing her turn forward. After buffing Sushang, it's best to use her Skill before unleashing her giant chicken on the enemy. This way, she won't lose the benefits from buffs that only last for a single turn.

This team setup can help players push through Forgotten Hall stages, and it can decimate enemies in the Simulated Universe if players manage to stack Hunt or Break Effect-boosting blessings.

Superspeed Sushang Team

In a way, Sushang plays similarly to Dan Heng in terms of how she can make good use of SPD and Slow effects. Since she can advance her next turn just by using her ultimate, Sushang can effectively pepper enemies with multiple attacks before they can recover their Toughness. This becomes more effective with the help of certain characters.

  • DPS: Sushang
  • Support 1: Asta
  • Support 2: Welt
  • Tank: March 7th

Asta and Welt are incredibly strong when it comes to inflicting Weakness Break and manipulating turn orders — the former speeds the team up, while the latter slows the enemies down. Then, when Toughness bars have been broken, March can keep enemies down by freezing them with her Ultimate, giving Sushang more opportunities to deal increased damage.

Like the previous team comp, this team's potential is somewhat limited by the low number of Support characters in the release version of the game. Over time, as more units get released, players will be able to take the general idea of this team comp and fill in each of its character slots with the Support characters they manage to pull from the gacha. Anyone will do as long as they can buff Sushang's SPD, inflict Slow on enemies, or both.

This setup can be very helpful in the Forgotten Hall and Memory of Chaos since it gives players more chances to deal damage per turn cycle. This style of team is recommended to anyone who's having trouble getting perfect three-star runs.
