The Trailblazer's original Path of Destruction form is a solid source of Physical DMG in Honkai: Star Rail. They're versatile enough to handle most scenarios, and they make for a solid bruiser character as well with the right Relics and Light Cones equipped.
Damage-wise, Physical Trailblazer will get outclassed by the likes of Sushang and Clara. However, their ability to handle both single-target and AOE situations makes them valuable against boss fights with tons of minions. Honkai: Star Rail's main character won't be able to handle all the baddies alone, though, so it's best to team them up with other characters that can play around their strengths and weaknesses. Here are two teams for the Physical Trailblazer.
Honkai: Star Rail Physical Trailblazer Team Comps
Physical Trailblazer is a DPS unit. They offer very little team utility outside of their exploration technique that heals everyone in the party. In combat, their job is to exploit the enemy's Weaknesses by smashing their Toughness bars. Doing so will give the Trailblazer bonus ATK courtesy of their Traces, allowing them to pummel targets into submission faster. When building teams around them, they are best treated as a typical AOE DPS carry.
Hypercarry Weakness Exploit Team
This setup focuses on breaking both Physical and Lightning Weaknesses, with only the Trailblazer as the main source of damage. Players will get the most out of this in battles where all major enemies are weak to Physical DMG, such as Simulated Universe World 3.
- DPS: Physical Trailblazer
- Support 1: Tingyun
- Support 2: Bronya/Pela
- Healer: Natasha
Tingyun is a top-tier Support for characters that rely on their Ultimates for damage. She can recharge Physical Trailblazer's Energy while also giving them additional ATK as Lightning DMG, making them even more efficient at breaking Toughness bars. The added Lightning DMG does not break Toughness bars, but the extra ATK is still beneficial in the end.
Having a secondary Support character is optional but highly recommended if players aren't having trouble keeping the team alive. Bronya can help push Forgotten Hall floors by manipulating turn orders and boosting the team's offensive prowess. Pela, on the other hand, can help Physical Trailblazer chunk down tanky targets everywhere else by shredding their DEF. Swap either of them out for a tank if survivability is an issue.
Natasha is the preferred healer for this team thanks to her matching Physical damage type, built-in cleanse, and low-cost Ultimate. In a pinch, Tingyun can cast her own Ultimate on Natasha to get a clutch AOE to heal in before a big enemy attack takes any teammates down.
Off-tank Weakness Break Team
This team is very similar to the one above—here, Physical Trailblazer will be the team's secondary DPS unit that will act as a dedicated Physical Weakness breaker and AOE damage dealer. They will be supported by a DPS carry (preferably from the Hunt path) and two others.
- Main DPS: Sushang
- Secondary DPS: Physical Trailblazer
- Support: Asta
- Tank: March 7th
All characters in the Path of Preservation and Destruction have a higher chance of getting attacked compared to the rest. March 7th can control this aggro by using her shield on either herself or Physical Trailblazer. She can also cleanse debuffs, and, if she's at E6, March can also heal allies for a respectable amount of HP.
Any damage dealer can occupy the Main DPS slot in this team. However, since this team is built for breaking Physical Weaknesses, Sushang is the best candidate for this slot because of her matching damage type and her interactions with Weakness Broken targets.
Asta can help both damage dealers take more actions per turn cycle with her Ultimate. She can also buff the team's damage should they have a surplus of Skill Points at the ready. Otherwise, Asta's main priority is to keep the team's SPD up while generating SP for them to use. She can start using her Skill more liberally once only one enemy is left on the field—in situations like this, it's better for Physical Trailblazer to use their basic attacks instead.
Honkai Star Rail is available on PC, iOS, and Android. A PlayStation version is in development.
