Having a solid team in Honkai: Star Rail is necessary when tackling the most challenging content the game has to offer. Tanks form the backbone of such parties—they keep everybody else alive by providing some form of damage mitigation, whether it be in the form of shielding, aggro management, or both.

With the limited party space available, players will have to carefully choose which Honkai: Star Rail characters work well with each other. Fire Trailblazer is one of the game's best tanks, and while they can be effective in any team, there are some setups that can squeeze out every bit of value this character can provide. Here are two examples of such with the roster available during the game's release version.

Honkai: Star Rail Fire Trailblazer Team Comps

Fire Trailblazer is a tank/bruiser hybrid that's built to dish out and absorb punishment. Their personal damage output isn't as high as actual DPS characters, and they don't offer as much damage mitigation as Gepard or March 7th. However, they direct enemy aggro to themselves while also granting small amounts of shielding to allies with every action they take, all while charging up powerful basic attacks. To make Fire Trailblazer a truly effective tank, players need to take these nuances into consideration when building a team.

Fire and Ice Combo

This is a Double Tank setup that takes advantage of the shielding Fire Trailblazer generates. It provides excellent team-wide survivability with good amounts of Fire and Ice damage for breaking Toughness bars. On top of those, it also leverages all benefits to follow-up attacks, making it a great pick for the Simulated Universe.

  • Tank 1: Fire Trailblazer
  • Tank 2: March 7th
  • DPS: Any
  • Flex slot: Any

March 7th's Girl Power Talent triggers off of all shields, including the ones from Fire Trailblazer. This gives her the opportunity to launch two follow-up attacks every turn regardless of who the enemy decides to target.

With March acting as the primary shielder of the team, Fire Trailblazer can focus on attacking instead—when using this team, consider building more Break Effect or CRIT stats on Fire Trailblazer for more damage. Consider equipping Landau's Choice as well and keep March's shield on Fire Trailblazer to make sure enemies will target them even without players having to use their taunt skill.

Unless players can get a fully-built hyper-carry combo with Yanqing or Seele with any offensive support in the flex pick slot, players may have trouble fully clearing Forgotten Hall and Memory of Chaos floors with this team. However, this is extremely strong in the Simulated Universe, with Preservation blessings missed with some perks from the paths of Elation and Remembrance.

Forgotten Hall Speed Team

Fire Trailblazer's base SPD is naturally low, which means that many enemies will naturally be able to move before they can. This can pose a problem in the Forgotten Hall, where turns are limited. Luckily, this problem is easily solved by equipping properly-rolled Relics and using the right teammates.

  • Tank: Fire Trailblazer
  • Support: Asta
  • DPS: Any
  • Healer: Natasha

Asta will be providing the necessary SPD buffs to help the team get more actions out per turn cycle while also giving everyone a nice DMG boost. She works well with any damage dealer in Honkai: Star Rail, especially with someone like Seele, a naturally high SPD stat thanks to her Skill's secondary effect.

Players can use any healer they have with this team, though Natasha is the preferred choice here for her ability to cleanse debuffs. She also has a low Ultimate energy cost, and her main healing skill continuously regenerates HP even after her turn has ended.

In this team, Fire Trailblazer will specifically be focusing on protecting the team. Stack as much DEF as possible and try to keep enemies from attacking the rest of the team. Use their Ultimate and Enhanced Basic Attacks to break Fire Weaknesses whenever necessary.

Honkai: Star Rail was released on April 26th for PC and mobile devices. PS4 and PS5 versions are in development.
