Jing Yuan may be an Erudition character in Honkai: Star Rail, but he still performs excellently even in single-target cases thanks to his Lightning Lord that deals higher damage to one target. The General is also great at breaking enemies’ Toughness due to the multi-hit his Lightning Lord offers.
Due to the fact that Jing Yuan is an overall amazing DPS, players should know which characters can support the General in combat. Among the available supports, players can use units like Tingyun, Asta, and Bronya to help him stack his Lightning Lord, but since using three supports may not be optimal, players can instead refer to the following examples of Jing Yuan team comp in Honkai: Star Rail.
4 Jing Yuan + Arlan + Tingyun + Bailu
The core item in this all-Lightning Jing Yuan team comp is Tingyun using the Planetary Rendezvous Light Cone, which will allow all Lightning units to deal 12% extra DMG. Tingyun can continuously buff Jing Yuan or Arlan to deal higher damage, and her ability to restore a teammate’s Energy will come in handy for Jing Yuan who relies on building his Lightning Lord stacks.
One issue here is that Bailu doesn’t synergize perfectly with Arlan who plays around low HP, which makes a shielder a better teammate for Arlan. Fortunately, since Bailu is a healer and doesn’t really benefit from Tingyun's Planetary Rendezvous Light Cone, players can totally swap Bailu out for a shielder like Gepard or March 7th. Of course, Trailblazers can also replace Arlan with Serval, but considering she’s an Erudition character like Jing Yuan, this may not be the best option.
3 Jing Yuan + Asta + Welt + Gepard
Jing Yuan’s Lightning Lord (LL) has a base SPD of 60, but each additional stack increases the SPD by 10, which means one Skill cast from the General will bump the follow-up attack’s SPD to 80. This basically means players would be stuck with five Lightning Lord stack most of the time. However, with a proper SPD boost like the one given by Asta’s Ultimate, Jing Yuan has a chance to dish out two Skills before his Lightning Lord takes a turn, which allows players to have a higher LL stack and activate the General’s second Ascension (A2) Trace, which increases Lightning Lord’s Crit DMG by 25% when it has six or more stacks.
Players can better increase Jing Yuan’s performance by using Tingyun, but this team mostly focuses on impairing the enemies. Asta will keep the team with boosted SPD while Welt can slow the opponents. Meanwhile, March 7th or Gepard can Freeze the foe, which will take their turn away.
2 Jing Yuan + Clara + March 7th + Yanqing
In the Simulated Universe, players must choose a Path to walk on. Among the available Paths is the one of Aha, the Aeon of Elation. Elation Blessing in Honkai: Star Rail focuses on follow-up attacks, and this team is all about it. Jing Yuan’s Lightning Lord, Clara’s Svarog counter, March 7th’s counter, and Yanqing’s extra hit are all considered a follow-up attack, which means this team is filled with follow-up attackers.
Despite Clara tanking damage and March 7th to protect her, though, players may end up lacking in terms of protection if they didn’t get the Elation Blessing that heals and/or boost DEF upon counterattack. In this case, it’s best to swap March 7th out with a healer if it’s too hard to survive. Meanwhile, if Trailblazers aren’t struggling with survivability, then March can instead be replaced with supports that enhance offense, like Pela or Tingyun.
1 Jing Yuan + Bronya + Bailu + Seele
The final Jing Yuan team comp sample in Honkai: Star Rail goes deeper into the offense side. Asta can boost Jing Yuan and allows him to better stack his Lightning Lord, but Bronya can do this better by giving him an instant turn, which is more certain than Asta’s SPD boost. However, if boosting Jing Yuan is not too appealing, players can always save their Bronya to boost Seele, one of the best DPS in Honkai: Star Rail. Meanwhile, Bailu is just there to heal, provided the team hasn’t annihilated their opponent yet.
Of course, for a faster run, Bailu can be replaced by more offensive DPS or support. Those who don’t own Bailu can also use Natasha instead. Although she’s a free 4-star character in Honkai: Star Rail, she’s more than sufficient as a healer, and can offer cleansing, a feature that Bailu doesn’t have (although Bronya has cleansing in this team). However, unlike the High Elder of the Vidyadhara, Natasha doesn’t have the ability to revive a downed teammate, a handy ability that works wonders in contents like Simulated Universe and Forgotten Hall.
