Back to All Characters

Out of all the characters released in the Honkai: Star Rail 1.0, Welt has what is arguably the best offensive kit in the game. He can lock enemies down and still deal absurd amounts of personal damage while also buffing the DPS output of everyone else in the team.

Having such an overloaded set of abilities makes Welt one of the best characters in Honkai: Star Rail and players can expect him to stay relevant even when new characters are introduced. This flexibility also means he's an excellent pick for any team with a vacant slot. However, players who focus on Welt's unique strengths can get so much more value out of this 5-star character.

Honkai: Star Rail Welt Team Comps

Honkai Star Rail's Welt Best Build

As paradoxical as it sounds, Welt is both a generalist and a specialist. His abilities to inflict Slow and amplify damage against Slowed targets are strong enough to make him useful anywhere, but he is at his true peak when he's working with a team who can pile even more debuffs on enemies. Welt is especially strong in single-target scenarios, and the fact that he deals Imaginary DMG makes him even more valuable.

Perma-Slow Team

Dan Heng Slow team in Honkai: Star Rail

This setup takes full advantage of Welt's built-in Slow and Imprisonment mechanics by combining him with teammates who have similar abilities. Players can comfortably take this team anywhere, though it might suffer in the Forgotten Hall and Memory of Chaos if the combined damage output of all members isn't enough to complete a floor within the specified turn count.

  • DPS: Dan Heng
  • Sub-DPS: Welt
  • Support: Asta
  • Any Tank/Healer

Dan Heng and Welt are going to be spamming their Skills to stack Slow on enemies and keep them from moving up the turn order. Meanwhile, Asta (preferably equipped with the Dance! Dance! Dance! Light Cone) will keep the team's SPD up through her Ultimate. Any Tank or Healer will do in this setup as no characters in the current roster have any speed-manipulating abilities.

It's possible to swap Dan Heng for a different DPS carry, but Welt will have trouble pinning enemies down by himself. Seele and Yanqing are good alternatives here as they have easy access to self-buffs that increase their SPD.

Physical/Freeze Weakness Exploit Team

Sushang in the Xianzhou Luofo in Honkai: Star Rail

This is a similar setup to the one above except that it focuses on breaking Toughness bars and keeping enemies locked in place with Freeze and Imprisonment, making it a strong Simulated Universe team when paired with Remembrance blessings.

  • DPS: Sushang
  • Sub-DPS: Welt
  • Support: Asta
  • Tank: Gepard

The Path of Remembrance has several blessings that increase the damage dealt to Frozen targets. If the enemy is both Frozen and Broken, Sushang will be able to deal extreme damage against them with her Skill alone. Meanwhile, Welt can prevent enemies from thawing by inflicting Slow and Imprisonment. Asta is here mostly for her SPD buff. However, her potency against enemies that are weak to Fire gives her good synergy with the main purpose of this team.

Gepard can Freeze enemies with his Skill early, setting them up for future attack rotations. Players need to be careful with how they use him, however, since the rest of the team is relatively SP-hungry (especially Sushang). He can be swapped out for March 7th since her Freeze is on her Ultimate.

Honkai: Star Rail is out now on PC and mobile devices. A PlayStation version is in development.
