Bailu is the only 5-Star Healer among the starting cast in Honkai: Star Rail 1.0, and she is capable of single-handedly keeping her entire team alive even during the most relentless of assaults. There's a ton of value to be had from this character, especially in harder content where players are forced to split their teams in two.

Like many other Supports in Honkai: Star Rail, Bailu can occupy a slot in any team and still be useful. She doesn't have many unique interactions with the existing cast of characters, but there are a couple of noteworthy examples for players to keep in mind. Here are three awesome partners to use with Bailu as well as some tips on when and where to use her.

As mentioned, players can take Bailu anywhere and still find success. Every part of her kit is dedicated to restoring HP, with the possible exception of her E4 bonus, which gives her the ability to buff the ATK of allies she heals. Bailu is also the only Abundance character so far that can overheal and revive fallen teammates. These two traits make her especially useful to Destruction characters or anyone else who scales off of Max HP. With all of her abilities in mind, here are some characters who specifically work well with Bailu:

  • Arlan - So far, Arlan is the only character in the game with an HP cost. This naturally means that he is always close to death, so having someone like Bailu who can serve as a safety net can be a big boon for the team. Blade can easily overtake this spot once players get their hands on him.
  • Fire Trailblazer - Bailu can grant the Invigoration effect on allies, which heals them whenever they take damage. Fire Trailblazer can make the most out of this buff as it synergizes extremely well with their taunt ability—Bailu's healing paired with the taunt's damage reduction means Fire Trailblazer will be able to absorb even more hits than usual.
  • Clara - Much like Fire Trailblazer, Clara can take advantage of Bailu's Invigoration more efficiently than others because she is expected to get hit a lot. With her Ultimate active, she gains bonus DMG Reduction, which means Bailu's healing is naturally more efficient on her. This combo is best used together with March 7th, who will be responsible for managing aggro around the team.

Bailu's strong and sustained group healing also makes her very strong in tankless hypercarry comps.

When to Use Bailu over Other Healers

Apart from AOE healing, the remainder of Bailu's value lies in her Invigoration, revive, and overhealing capabilities. She is especially strong in the Simulated Universe when empowered by blessings of the Abundance, as many of its perks improve the efficiency of the majority of her kit.

One important thing to note about Bailu is she lacks utility. She needs to be at E4 before she can offer anything outside of healing, which means she might not be optimal for every situation. Natasha is capable of cleansing debuffs, while Luocha (who is still unavailable as of writing) can deal immense Break damage in an area. On the plus side, Bailu's persistent healing effects mean she can focus on generating SP while still keeping her team healthy.

Honkai: Star Rail is available now on PC and mobile devices. A PlayStation version is in the works.
