Honkai: Star Rail is a turn-based RPG game with gacha mechanics where players can collect various characters and use them in battles. These characters are classified as either 4-star or 5-star and come with different elemental abilities and their respective paths, with both having access to even stronger abilities upon obtaining their duplicates, known as Eidolons.

Among the two, 5-star characters are generally more sought after by players as they offer unique advantages and abilities in gameplay while this may not be true in every occasion. However, acquiring 5-star characters can be a challenging task that requires both luck and strategy. Hence, players need to be aware of some pro tips that can help them secure 5-star characters in Honkai: Star Rail more easily to strengthen their arsenal and create team compositions suitable for any challenging content.

6 Use Warps On The Departure Warp Banner

Upon beginning Honkai: Star Rail, players will immediately encounter four different types of warp banners that they can use to obtain characters and light cones. These banners include the Departure Warp, Standard Warp, and limited-time Character and Light Cone Event Warp banners. As players receive a substantial amount of Star Rail Passes when they first start playing the game, it presents an excellent opportunity to spend these passes on the Departure banner rather than the Standard banner.

The Departure banner guarantees a 5-star character within 50 pulls, while the pity amount for the Standard banner is 90. Additionally, it only costs resources equivalent to 40 pulls to obtain a 5-star character from the Departure banner, making it a more economical choice for players. However, players should note that they can only take advantage of this option until they have made 50 pulls, after which it will no longer be available.

5 Don’t Be Tempted By the Stellar Warp Additional Reward

In Honkai: Star Rail, players have the option to choose one of the standard 5-star characters once they reach 300 pulls on Standard Warp banner. The warp count for this is not affected by the Departure warp, or the limited-time banner pulls. This option is also separate from their current pity amount, and some players may find it tempting to redeem their favorite 5-star character as quickly as possible. However, it is important to note that reaching 300 pulls will typically take a long time, unless players use their Stellar Jades to purchase Star Rail Passes instead of Special Passes.

While the option to choose a 5-star character may seem appealing, it is not worth it in the long run since Stellar Jades can be better utilized to obtain limited-time characters. Additionally, the gacha pool of the Standard Banner also includes 5-star Light Cones along the way, making it a less worthwhile investment for particularly acquiring 5-star characters. Therefore, players should only progress towards the 300 pulls through other sources of obtaining Star Rail Passes and avoid spending their Stellar Jades on it.

4 Focus on Limited-Time Character Event Warp

Players who want to get their hands on Limited-Time Character Warp 5-star characters such as Seele must act fast, as these characters are only available for a limited time until their next rerun. Therefore, it is advisable for players to save their Stellar Jades until a character they are particularly interested in becomes available. Additionally, it is worth noting that the 5-star pool for this banner only includes characters, not light cones. This means that even if players don't get the rate-up character on their first pity, they are still guaranteed to receive another 5-star character. This increases the chances of obtaining the 5-star standard character they may be seeking before they can get it from the Stellar Warp.

However, since Stellar Jade is a limited resource unless players are willing to spend real money, it is essential to exercise patience and skip some Limited-Time characters to guarantee obtaining a character they are truly interested in. By following this strategy, players can ensure that they are not wasting their resources and getting the most out of their gacha pulls.

The Daily Training feature in Honkai: Star Rail is an essential daily task for players to accumulate resources and level up their characters. It offers a variety of activities that players can choose from, including battles, daily quests, and more. These activities can be completed quickly and efficiently, making it a convenient way for players to obtain resources such as 60 Stellar Jade in total and Trailblazer EXP.

For F2P players, Daily Training is particularly important as it is currently the only consistent way to obtain Stellar Jade on a daily basis without purchasing the Express Supply Pass. Once players have completed other gameplay features such as chests and quests, Daily Training becomes the primary source for Stellar Jade. Moreover, as players level up through Daily Training, they can unlock additional level up rewards, some of which include Stellar Jades or Star Rail Passes.

2 Complete Story Quests

Quests, particularly the main story quest known as the Trailblazer Quest, are crucial for players to advance their main character in Honkai: Star Rail. While this does not introduce a different 5-star character, it does allow players to acquire different elements and paths for their MC. As players progress through the story, they can transform their MC into the Fire Trailblazer, which is the only non-gacha method to add a different 5-star character option to the game. Additionally, other quests may occasionally offer world currency rewards that can be used to purchase Eidolons for the Trailblazer, providing an entirely F2P method to enhance the strength of a 5-star character.

It is important for players to complete quests not only for their character's progression but also for potential pre-requisites for future in-game events. While there is no need to rush, players should ensure they make progress on quests regularly as they will need to reach certain Trailblazer levels to continue certain quests. Neglecting quests may cause players to fall behind significantly over time. Moreover, completing quests can yield rewards such as Stellar Jade and Trailblazer EXP, which can aid in levelling up and earning additional level up rewards that may include Stellar Jades or Star Rail Passes.

1 Reroll Is Not Worth On The Long Run

Honkai Star Rail_ Things Players Should Be Aware Of When Pulling Characters

Many Gacha players tend to reroll to get the desired characters at the beginning of the game, and some games allow this process to be done quickly and easily. Unfortunately, Honkai: Star Rail is not one of those games. Rerolling in this game requires players to create multiple HoyoVerse accounts, link them to different email addresses, and complete a lengthy tutorial, which may take several days to achieve the desired result.

While this strategy can give players a significant boost early in the game, it may not be worth the effort in the long run, as there is no guarantee of obtaining upcoming 5-star characters.

Honkai: Star Rail is now available on Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation version is in development.
