A former Jedi Master, Dagan Gera is a humanoid who’s been locked in a capsule for 200 years. In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, he is one of the main villains Cal must face in his journey. But, what makes Dagan Gera a unique boss is that his battle is a three-phase challenge spread throughout the campaign. Players first encounter Dagan in Forest Array. Then he shows up again in Lucrehulk and attacks Cal for one last time in Koboh Observatory.
While Dagan Gera is not the toughest boss in Jedi Survivor, his gradually increasing power makes him one of the tricky ones. This guide, therefore, lists all his weaknesses and offers tips for taking him out with no hassle.
How to Defeat Dagan Gera
To beat Dagan Gera, deflect his projectile lightsaber, dodge his heavy attacks, and avoid his Force traps. In the first phase, block Dagan’s basic attacks and strike back when his defense is broken. In the second and third phases, avoid his heavy attacks and ask Bode to distract him.
Dagan Gera Move | Counter |
Basic Lightsaber Strike | Parry or dodge |
Heavy Slam | Dodge |
Lightsaber Projectile | Parry |
Force Projectiles | Dodge |
Keep the Fight Mid-Range in the First Phase
During the initial encounter, Dagan Gera is weak. He has only two heavy attacks that are easily avoidable by dodging. To beat him in this segment, use the dual-wield stance with the Dancing Blades skill. This will allow for mid-range attacks, which Dagan is vulnerable against.
Combine Parry and Dodge in the Second Phase
In the second phase, Dagan Gera attacks with two different stances: Double-bladed and dual wield. The key here is to avoid his combos by dodging and parrying at the right time. For that, press LB (L1 on PlayStation) before Dagan’s lightsaber projectile hits, and then follow up with a dodge (B or Circle) before his heavy attack lands. This will stun Dagan for a second, creating room for a counterattack.
Extend Dagan’s cooldown by deploying the Slow Time ability when he is stunned. (The Slow Time activates by pressing both thumbsticks.)
Stay Away from Dagan’s Traps in the Third Phase
For the third phase, Dagan Gera relies heavily on his Force. But this strategy backfires because using Force slows him down. To beat Dagan in the third and final phase, watch out for the Force bobble and dodge his Force projectiles while attacking him in between his cooldowns. The bobble can be avoided by keeping away from the blue areas on the ground. And projectiles can be dodged by pressing B or Circle just before they hit Cal.
Dagan Gera also uses illusion to create clones of himself. When this happens, take down the clones immediately because otherwise, they won’t go away.
Since Bode accompanies Cal in the third phase, ask him to stun Dagan by pressing the RB (R1) button.
Best Stances and Skills for Beating Dagan Gera
Double-bladed and dual-wield are the ideal stances for all three phases of Dagan Gera’s boss fight. With the former, players can parry all his basic attacks, while the latter allows them to inflict more damage in Dagan’s short stuns.
As for the skills, the Dancing Blades for the dual-wield stance and the Vortex Dive for the double-bladed lightsaber is a must. The Dancing Blades lets Cal throw his lightsaber at Dagan, and the Vortex Dive gives him a charged mid-range move that’s best for closing gaps.
Tips for Beating Dagan Gera Faster
Be patient, not aggressive. Unlike Rayvis, Dagan is an agile boss with quick and unpredictable moves. To counter him effectively, go for a slow-paced strategy and exploit counterattacks.
Don’t overuse the Force on him. As a powerful former Jedi, Dagan is resilient against Cal’s Force, making it a rather pointless move in the fight.
Stay on his right side. Because Dagan’s right arm is amputated, attacking him from that angle would be strategic—at least for the first two phases of the battle.
