As the Bedlam Raiders’ leader, Rayvis is a Gen'Dai who serves Dagan Gera in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Although Cal Kestis meets him early in the game, his boss fight starts only in Chapter 5, toward the end of the campaign. Compared to other bosses in Jedi Survivor, Rayvis is one of the toughest and has several deadly combos. But beginner and seasoned players can beat him quickly with the instructions in this guide.

To beat Rayvis, stay away from his projectiles, dodge his heavy attacks, and break his charging strikes with the blaster. Like the Ninth Sister, Rayvis is a slow boss with unsurprising combos. The best strategy for killing him, therefore, is avoidance and counterattacks.

  • Focus on close-range attacks in phase 1.

The battle with Rayvis starts with him relying on swinging his flail. And since his flail attacks (except for the red ones) are breakable, players should stay close to him, parry his strikes, and counterattack when his stance breaks.

  • Exploit long-range moves in phase 2.

Once his initial health bar drains, Rayvis initiates the second phase of the fight. In this segment, he becomes more aggressive and pushes Cal with projectiles. Because of that, players are advised to keep a distance and use long-range moves such as throwing the dual-wield lightsaber or shooting with the blaster.

How to Counter Rayvis’ Attacks

Rayvis’s basic attacks—including swinging his flail or shooting his blaster—can be parried by holding the left trigger (LB/L1). But his heavy strikes—the ones that make him glow red—cannot be blocked. To avoid them, players should dodge by pressing the B button (Circle on PlayStation) at the right time.

Best Stances and Skills for Beating Rayvis

The best stances for defeating Rayvis are the dual wield and blaster. The former is best for the boss fight’s initial phase, where Rayvis is vulnerable to close-range damage. And the latter is ideal for the final phase, where he shoots more projectiles from a distance.

As for the skills, the best upgrades in Rayvis’s fight are Focused Parry, Dancing Blades, Flying Lunge, and Point Blank. With Focused Parry, Cal gains a heavy follow-up attack for his focused parry. Dancing Blades allows him to throw his dual-wield lightsaber. Flying Lunge adds a charged leaping thrust to his blaster stance. And Point Blank allows for shooting away Rayvis when he gets too close.

Tips for Killing Rayvis Faster

  • Break Rayvis’s charged attacks. While glowing red, Rayvis is vulnerable to heavy strikes for a short period. Hit him with one or two lightsaber combos in this gap to prevent his unbreakable moves and stun him for a second.
  • Drain his defense before heavy combos. The white bar on Rayvis’s head shows his blocking stamina, which goes down by being parried. To make him defenseless, parry his basic attacks until this bar is emptied—and follow up with a heavy attack combo or use the Slow Time ability on him. (The Slow Time is activated by pressing the right and left thumbsticks.)
  • Watch out for his follow-up moves. Some of Rayvis’s attacks have sequel combos that inflict extra damage. For example, when he throws his flail at Cal, he pulls it back and kicks it toward him again. Keep an eye on these combinations and push only when he’s done with them.
