Star Wars Jedi: Survivor follows Cal Kestis on his second journey across the galaxy. Like with his previous expedition, the Jedi Knight is constantly being pursued by Imperial forces, but that doesn't mean players won't have time to complete the side quests they uncover while progressing the story.
The side quests in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are known as Rumors, and most of them can be found on the planet of Koboh. Some, however, can only be completed after Cal learns a new ability. The Investigate the Local Recluse Rumor is no exception, but Cal will need to acquire more than one new skill if players hope to complete it.
How To Start The Investigate The Local Recluse Rumor In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Cal can begin the Investigate the Local Recluse Rumor during his third visit to Koboh after he has rescued Zee from the Lucrehulk in the Viscid Bog. The Force Lift and Force Slam abilities are learned during this part of the story and are also needed to access the Local Recluse's lair. The ability to warp through green laser barriers is also required, but by the time Cal visits Koboh for a third time, he will already have it.
Once these skills have been learned, Cal can interact with the two NPCs standing outside the house to the left of Pyloon's Saloon's front entrance. After the conversation ends, Cal should circle around the entrance to the Meditation Chamber on the right and proceed up the alleyway, where the Local Recluse can be found inside the house on the left.
To get inside, Cal must use Force Pull on the panel next to the door, slash through the steel bars, use Force Slam on the door, and dash through the green laser barrier.
How To Complete The Investigate The Local Recluse Rumor In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Inside on the left, BD-1 can scan the Obsession and the Forever Curious Data Entries. Then, Cal can turn to the right and interact with the NPC standing in the corner.
To gain Soont Madas' trust, Cal must use a Mind Trick while speaking to him. The player will then be given the option to address the NPC as a Friend or an Ally; no matter what choice players make, both outcomes of this conversation are the same.
Once the conversation ends, Cal will be free to travel down the stairs leading into the basement, where he can find a Force Essence and the Death in the Family Force Echo. Interacting with the Force Echo emitting from the dead body in the chair will allow players a brief glimpse into Soont Madas' past before the man himself will join Cal in the basement.
Believing the Jedi Knight to be a threat, Soont will attack. Sadly, there is no way to reason with him, so Cal is forced to defeat him. After the battle is won, the Investigate the Local Recluse Rumor will end.
