Anyone even remotely knowledgeable about the Star Wars universe will know just how important lightsaber colors are to a Jedi. This idea runs through nearly all Star Wars media, and it is no different for Cal Kestis in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. In it, players will have a remarkable amount of agency in creating their own personalized lightsaber, making Cal feel more unique than many of the stock protagonists in modern gaming. Along with a huge variety of mechanical parts, the game features the traditional blue and green blades normally associated with Jedi, and the harsh red blade associated with the Sith. However, where Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's customization system truly shines is in the nontraditional colors it offers to players.

As the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Survivor maintains and builds upon many of the lightsaber customization mechanics that game established. Like Fallen Order, many of Survivor's customization options will be unlocked through exploration. However, many of the color options will be available from the start and can be changed quite easily.

Before players can change the color of their lightsaber, they must first gain access to the workbench mechanic. Fallen Order players will remember this as the main customization station, where Cal can customize both his lightsaber, and BD-1.

While available very early in Survivor, it is not technically available from the start. Cal must play through the introduction mission on Coruscant before gaining access to a workbench. The first bench will essentially be impossible to miss, so don't worry about passing it by.

Once Cal is set free in the first main section of Survivor, workbenches will be a common occurrence, and there is no limit to the number of times Cal can change his blade color. It is also important to note that changing blade color will not cost Cal any resources.

When Cal accesses a workbench, he will see three main options: Lightsaber, BD-1, and Stances. Select the lightsaber option to enter the customization section. Once in that section, Cal will see a close up view of his emitter options, which is where the section begins by default.

Look at the top edge of the screen to find the navigation bar. Entering the lightsaber section from the main workbench menu will always take Cal to the 'Components' tab first. Using R1/Right Bumper or L1/Left Bumper, cycle through the tabs until 'Blade' is reached.

The 'Blade' tab is solely there to allow for color change, with each color that is available found in a circle at the bottom of the screen. Highlight the desired color and press X/A. Cal can examine his lightsaber up close by pressing triangle/Y to preview.

The colors Cal can access from the start are:

  • Blue
  • Green
  • Purple
  • Yellow
  • Cyan
  • Magenta
  • Indigo
  • Orange
  • White
