Star Wars Jedi: Survivor follows Cal Kestis on his second journey across the galaxy. While progressing the story, the Jedi Knight will be forced to fight an array of dangerous opponents, but some, like the Legendary Bosses hidden throughout the game, are extremely hard to find.

The thirteen Legendary Bosses in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are optional encounters that only become available after reaching certain points in the main story. Some can only be reached if Cal has unlocked specific abilities, and the Gorocco Matriarch is no exception. To reach this foe, Cal must first learn the Force Lift ability, or he will be unable to access its domain.

How To Start The Defeat The Gorocco Matriarch Rumor In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Cal speaks to Mosey in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

After saving Zee from the Lucrehulk during the third visit to Koboh, Cal can return to Pyloon's Saloon and speak with Mosey to initiate the Defeat the Gorocco Matriarch Rumor. Mosey will then point Cal in the direction of Dredger Gorge, where he can begin his search for the infamous foe.

If Mosey doesn't initially offer the Defeat the Gorocco Matriarch Rumor, Cal can fast-travel away and then fast-travel back to Pyloon's Saloon to refresh the Rumors she offers.

Where To Find The Gorocco Matriarch In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Cal faces the Derelict Dam in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Fast-traveling to the Derelict Dam Meditation Point, Cal should proceed forward and follow the edge on the right until he reaches the slightly raised area.

He will then come face to face with an elevator he can use to reach the area above, but if players have yet to activate the elevator, they must lure a Roller Mine to this area and throw it at the glowing wall to the left to open a way inside the cliff face.

Proceeding through the newly created path, Cal will be faced with two B1 Droids and a Gorocco. Further ahead, three Shiverpedes will attack, but they are easily dealt with thanks to the Force Pull ability. At the end of this path, BD-1 can scan the back wall to acquire the Creature Bones Data Entry before Cal climbs the rope in front of it.

Cal finds the Abandoned Encampment in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Before crossing the stone walkway leading left, Cal can interact with the campsite at the edge of the platform to acquire the Abandoned Encampment Data Entry.

Crossing the stone bridge, Cal can turn right to acquire and Force Essence and then proceed forward to activate the elevator leading back to the Derelict Dam Meditation Point. This shortcut can be exceptionally convenient if Cal happens to die during the Gorocco Matriarch fight, as it will allow Cal to return to the area much faster.

Cal uses Force Lift on a door in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

To find the Gorocco Matriarch, Cal must use Force Lift on the large yellow door to the left of the walkway, proceed through the tunnel, and turn right. There, he will find the den of the Gorocco Matriarch and can jump down to begin the battle.

How To Beat The Gorocco Matriarch in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Cal fights the Gorocco Matriarch in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Given the size of the area the Gorocco Matriarch is fought in, players will likely struggle to maintain a safe distance from it, especially since the creature tends to charge at Cal quite often.

It may seem intimidating at first, but the best way to approach this fight is for Cal to remain close to the beast and only flee when necessary. Until the player has familiarized themselves with the Gorocco Matriarch's moveset, they should prioritize fleeing whenever the beast prepares to unleash a red unblockable attack.

The Gorocco Matriarch's Moveset:

The Gorocco Matriarch is quick, but defeating it isn't too difficult so long as players study the creature's moveset. Most of its attacks can be parried, but some are easier to take advantage of than others.

  • Whenever the Gorocco Matriarch pounds its claws on its chest, players should prepare to block, as it will soon be lunging at Cal. This attack can be parried by guarding just as the beast raises its arm in the air.
  • A similar attack sees the Gorocco Matriarch raising its arm in the air and smashing it down toward Cal. This move is hard to predict, but it can be parried if players guard the moment the animation begins.
  • The Gorocco Matriarch will also attempt to kick Cal from time to time. This move sees the beast running at Cal from a distance before leaping into the air and can be parried by guarding just as the creature begins to jump.
  • One of the Gorocco Matriarch's most dangerous attacks sees the beast glowing red and slashing its claws at Cal four times in a row. Precision evading these blows is a good way to avoid getting struck, but dodging away is arguably a lot safer.
  • The Gorocco Matriarch will also jump into the air and attempt to strike Cal by smashing into him from above. Cal won't be able to block this attack, but he can dodge it by evading right before the beast lands.
  • After this attack, the Gorocco Matriarch will attempt to ram Cal, so players will need to be ready to dodge a second time.
Cal opens a Stim chest in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Once the battle is won, Cal can interact with the yellow chest at the right-hand side of the arena to acquire a new Stim.

Before leaving through the tunnel he came through, he can use the yellow balloons on the right to grapple to the vines leading to the area above. A Priorite Shard can be found on the ground in front of the tree, and a Skill Point Force Essence can be acquired at the edge overlooking the Gorge Crash Site.

Once these collectibles have been obtained, Cal is free to leave the area. Turning right, he can drop down into the Gorge Crash Site, or he can backtrack to where he fought the Gorocco Matriarch to return to the Derelict Dam.
