Star Wars Jedi: Survivor follows Cal Kestis as he travels across the galaxy on his second adventure. During the main story, the Jedi Knight will encounter a variety of dangerous enemies, but he can also stumble upon some optional ones after reaching certain points in the campaign.

These optional enemies are known as Legendary Bosses; as their name suggests, defeating them can be quite difficult. To make matters worse, some are exceptionally well-hidden, so it can take time for players to encounter them naturally. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's Sutaban Alpha is no exception, but Cal can receive a clue on the beast's location by speaking with Sister Taske at her shop.

How To Start The Defeat The Sutaban Alpha Rumor In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Cal speaks to Sister Taske in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

After visiting Jedha for a second time and acquiring the Contact Codes for Cere, Cal will learn how to Force Dash through green laser barriers. Returning to the Archive and speaking to Sister Taske, she will then inform Cal about where he can find some of the most dangerous beasts on the planet, with the Sutaban Alpha being one of them.

If Sister Task does not offer the Defeat the Sutaban Alpha Rumor during the first conversation, Cal should fast-travel to a different Meditation Point and then fast-travel back to the Archive; doing so will refresh the Rumors Sister Taske can give.

Upon beginning this Rumor, Cal should fast-travel to the Crypt of Uhrma and use the nearby zipline to reach the area on the other side of the ravine. Here, players hoping to unlock the Skoova Diving Trophy or Achievement should speak with Skoova to acquire the Fantailed Laa, one of the twelve fish that need to be caught while exploring the galaxy.

Continuing right, Cal will be faced with a green laser barrier that he can Force Dash through to reach a new area. Moving through the next narrow hallway, the Jedi Knight must squeeze through the gap in the dead end to enter the domain of the Sutaban Alpha.

The beast will only attack when Cal approaches, so players should prepare themselves well before attracting its attention.

How To Beat The Sutaban Alpha In Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Cal fights the Sutaban Alpha in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

The Sutaban Alpha's fighting style isn't overly different from that of a regular Sutaban, but the speed at which it tends to attack is much faster. Because of this, it is best to rely on defense at the beginning of the battle until the player has familiarized themselves with the creature's moveset.

It may seem impossible initially, but Cal will have several opportunities to attack the Sutaban Alpha after parrying some of its more threatening attacks. Figuring out when and when not to parry, however, can be a little tricky.

The Sutaban Alpha's Moveset:

The most daunting part of this battle is how quickly the Sutaban Alpha attacks. Players may wish to keep their distance from this foe because of how unpredictable it is, but getting up close and personal and parrying its blockable attacks is by far the best way to dish out some heavy damage.

  • When the Sutaban Alpha glows red and quickly waves its arms, players should prepare to jump out of the way, as the beast will soon be leaping in their direction to attack. It's also possible to precision evade this move by dodging just as the beast leaps into the air.
  • The Sutaban Alpha can also perform a blockable version of this attack, which can be parried by blocking right before the beast's claws collide with Cal.
  • While standing close to the Sutaban Alpha, the creature will often slash at Cal with its claws. This move sees the beast attacking four times in a row, but only once if players manage to parry the first attack.
  • This chain attack can sometimes end with an unblockable red attack, so players should be prepared to dodge away whenever the beast is preparing its fourth hit; otherwise, it can be parried to leave the Sutaban Alpha open for a brief moment.
Cal finds the Gambler Perk in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

So long as players take advantage of how easily staggered the Sutaban Apha is, the battle can be won quite quickly. When the beast eventually falls, Cal will be free to investigate the hollow it was waiting in before the battle began to find the Gambler Perk.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
