With players now making their way through Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, they have no doubt noticed the game's considerable increase in content compared to its predecessor, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. From the moment Cal Kestis is set free in the semi-open world of Koboh, it's clear that he will have far more unique interactions and opportunities this time around.

One of the game's earliest examples of this appears early in Cal's introduction to Koboh, at the end of the Gorge Crash Site region, just before the Derelict Dam. While crossing an area filled with sinking tar, he comes across a lone droid with his ship stuck. Cal clearly tells the upset droid that perhaps he'll come back later, but there is no hint when Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will provide the proper tool to do so. Players will likely wonder when that time will be, and this guide will provide the answer.

Players hoping to help the droid in the early portion of the game will be disappointed to learn that Cal must make his way through a large portion of the game before he can return to help his new droid friend. It is well known that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, like its predecessor, features the classic 'Metroidvania' design style, and this encounter is a perfect example of that. Cal will have several encounters with both characters and environments that will require him to leave and come back when he has the correct tool at his disposal.

Before Cal can help the droid get their ship out of the tar, he must first get the Lift and Slam ability.

Cal will have to wait until Chapter 4 of the main story before he can acquire the Lift and Slam ability. During the course of the chapter's third mission, in which Cal and Bode head to the massive ship in order to save Zee, the High Republic-era droid.

Luckily, there is no way to miss this ability while playing through the mission. The player will know they are in the correct area when they reach the raider's living quarters. Bode tells Cal that they are technically called Yurts.

Not long after reaching this section, Cal will have a violent run-in with Rayvis, leading to a cutscene. Shortly after the cutscene ends, Cal will begin having a flashback in which he remembers Cere using the Slam ability to take out several Stormtroopers. From this point on, Cal will have access to the ability.
