Dead Island 2 has finally been released, and it has been over a decade since the first game came out for PC and consoles. The new sequel brings the same zombie crushing violence as the original that can be played with friends, but has changed the location from a fictional island to Los Angeles and San Francisco.

It has also brought a new soundtrack as well with an introduction trailer that captures a more artistic tone of the game, similar to the intro of the original game a decade ago that had a lot of people talking about it. This guide will help identify the songs of the Dead Island 2 introductions for those wondering and think they are catchy enough to add to their own personal playlists.

Dead Island 2 Intro Cinematic Song

Players are met with a somewhat low-key introduction to Dead Island 2 upon booting up the game. The cinematic title opening is a series of slow panning shots of Hollywood Boulevard and other sites that have clearly been abandoned for good reason. The zombie hordes have laid waste to these picturesque views, leaving gallons of blood and carnage behind.

The song that accompanies the quiet destruction of the sunny paradise and weapons left behind in the intro cinematic is "Drown" by Karen O and Danger Mouse. The intro song can be found off the 2019 album Lux Prima, a collaboration between the Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O and award-winning producer Danger Mouse. Those that do not own the game can still watch the cinematic and listen to the hauntingly beautiful song in the trailer below.

Dead Island 2 Intro Mission Song

The actual introduction to Dead Island 2 is more chaotic than the opening cinematic would lead to believe. Without spoiling much, it sets up the main conflict of the game and introduces the cast of playable characters that can be chosen. The characters are seen trying to escape the now-hellish landscape and almost do, but various circumstances stop their escaping in grand fashion.

The chaotic nature of the intro and character selection is appropriately scored with the song "Stay Alive" by FFM featuring Felix Bushe. The thumping bass of the song perfectly sets the tone for the action that is about befall these characters. The soundtrack for Dead Island 2 also features other artists including Marvin Gaye, Perturbator, Death From Above 1979 and more alongside an original soundtrack.

Dead Island 2 is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
