Dead Island 2 manages to reimagine Los Angeles into an undead paradise, where the humans are vastly outnumbered by shambling monsters looking for their next meal. Yet, not all hope is lost, and for those looking to fight back, there are plenty of resources that can be found in the world to help the cause.

Although improvised and customizable weapons are always going to form the foundation of combat in the game, there are also a couple of interesting and powerful weapons that are usually just out of reach. Players will likely come across locations that require a Fuse in order to be opened, and there is a good reason. This guide will reveal just what Fuses are and how to use them in Dead Island 2 to obtain some goodies.

Around Los Angeles, there will be several Fuseboxes that will block the way to a certain area. If Slayers are able to obtain a Fuse, they can unlock the area and gain access to a bunch of resources and a powerful weapon.

Fuses are exactly rare items that need to be obtained from the world itself. Rather, players can easily grab up to a maximum of three Fuses from the many Traders that are usually found in zombie-free zones, such as Carlos in the first area. Each Fuse will cost $1500, which is not a small sum, but the rewards are quite worthwhile for those looking for an instant upgrade on their weapons.

With a Fuse in hand, a sharp Slayer should head to locations marked by a Fuse on the map. Once there, insert the Fuse into the Fusebox to gain access. However, this is only the beginning. As the areas are usually varied, they present different challenges that need to be overcome first before the rewards.

First, zombies will usually attack, and there can be Apex variants or just the normal cannon fodder. After dealing with them, be on the lookout for environmental hazards. Such rooms usually require some puzzle-solving, like using water to negate acid, or finding valves to turn off harmful fire. Once that is taken care of, scoop up all the nearby resources and look for the Zomproof Slayer Hoard.

There is an increased chance of obtaining a Superior weapon from these boxes, and they are usually higher in Power level compared to a Slayer's current equipment. With the right mods, such weapons can be the mainstay for a good amount of time before needing to be replaced.

As a rule, always stock up on Fuses whenever possible, and use them when a Fusebox is in sight. Having more effective weapons is always a good thing in Dead Island 2.

Dead Island 2 will launch on April 21 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
