In Dead Island 2, players are one of few survivors in LA, or Hell-A as the locals call it, after a massive Zombie outbreak. As players travel across Los Angeles, they will level up and unlock new abilities, weapons, and items that help them along the way. Those with the money can upgrade and mod their items to increase power or purchase weapons from Traders. Furthermore, players have discovered a handy duplication glitch that gives them more money and XP significantly faster.

Story-wise, the main goal in Dead Island 2 is to escape the city and destroy any zombies in the way. This gets harder to achieve the further into the main missions players go, and they will need serious ammunition to withstand some of the Zombie variants. The best way to strengthen their character and arsenal is with a lot of cash and a high level for more weapon upgrades and Skill Cards. So, this guide covers everything players need to know to use the duplication glitch for double the cash and XP in Dead Island 2.

How to Use the Dead Island 2 Duplication Glitch for Money

Dead Island 2

The duplication glitch to get extra cash in Dead Island 2 is available on both PC and console, and while there are different methods for both, they have a common prerequisite. It is only possible while in a co-op session, so players must either Join a friend's match or a Public session using the online multiplayer features. The way the glitch works is that it allows players to duplicate weapons and items, so they can sell them for money.

Duplication Glitch on PC and PlayStation

Here are the steps to activate the duplication glitch in Dead Island 2 on PC to get more cash.

  1. Open the File system on the PC.
  2. Find and select the folder titled User. Using the File Search bar makes this easier.
  3. From there, select the correct user and then choose AppData.
  4. Once inside AppData, choose Local to open a list with all downloaded applications.
  5. Locate a folder titled DeadIsland and click on it. Three items will be in the folder: A "Saved" folder and two configuration settings.
  6. Dead Island 2
Click "Saved" and choose the "SaveGames" folder.
  7. Copy the save file and make a backup on the desktop or another folder.

Players who want to use the Dead Island 2 duplication glitch on PlayStation will have to take a different route. See below for the steps:

  1. Open the settings menu on PlayStation.
  2. Scroll down and find Application Saved Data Management.
  3. Dead Island 2
Then, find the Copy to USB Storage Device option.
  4. Copy the save file to a USB Device.

With the PC/PlayStation save file backed up, Go ahead and boot up the game and join a co-op session. Once it has started, players can drop all the weapons from the inventory they want to duplicate. After dropping weapons, exit the game and return to the Local save file folder or the USB. Copy and paste the original Save File into the application folder. Finally, start Dead Island 2 back up, and all the weapons players dropped will still be in their inventory, and they can pick up the ones they dropped earlier.

Players can then sell all the extra weapons for cash to a Trader. They can do this as often as they want as long as they are backing up the save file to replace it in the folder.

How to Use the Dead Island 2 Duplication Glitch for XP

Dead Island 2

Another duplication glitch in Dead Island 2 helps players level up fast. This one differs from the money glitch in that it is much simpler to carry out and affects the Zombies that spawn rather than weapons. There are many moments in Dead Island 2's missions where players are forced to attack a large horde of Zombies to complete an objective. These battles are a great way to earn tons of XP by mowing down many Zombies in one go around.

The way the glitch works is at any point during a main mission, players can die or quit the game and respawn with the same amount of ammo and Med Packs they started with. They don't lose any XP they earned before dying or leaving. The Zombies also respawn, so players can kill them again and get even more XP. Then, they can repeat this process as many times as they want.

Dead Island 2

In many games, when players die, they either drop items, pick back up where they left off with the same enemies dead/alive, or don't respawn with ammo and health if they used it all. So, there essentially aren't any significant consequences of death in Dead Island 2, and players can exploit this glitch to get stronger faster without having to move through the storyline as quickly.

Dead Island 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
