Although it can be argued that the undead hordes in Dead Island 2 are the star attraction, especially with the variety on show, the Slayers are the main protagonists that will drive the story along. Depending on players' preferences, they can choose from any of the six lucky individuals that just so happen to be immune to the effects of the monstrous virus.

Of course, it takes more than just immunity to survive the madness that awaits in Los Angeles. While knowing how to swing a weapon is a valuable skill, it is also ultimately important to understand just what are all the Slayer Traits in Dead Island 2. This guide will provide all the pertinent answers.

All Slayer Traits in Dead Island 2 Explained

There are six Slayers in total that can function as any of the playable characters in Dead Island 2, and they bring more than just their innate skills and sunny disposition to the proceedings. Each of them possesses varying degrees of Slayer Traits, which will inform players on how best to play to their strengths and minimize any potential weaknesses.

  • Peak Health - Determines the maximum health a Slayer can have at any time.
  • Stamina - Determines how many heavy attacks and special moves that can be performed in quick succession during combat before pausing to catch a breath.
  • Agility - Determines the base movement speed.
  • Toughness - Determines the total physical damage that a Slayer can take from zombie attacks. The tougher they are, the less physical damage is taken as well.
  • Critical Damage - Determines the total damage a Slayer can dish out when performing a critical hit.
  • Health Recovery - Determines how quickly health recovers, both when critically hurt or for normal health regeneration.
  • Resilience - Determines protection against Fire, Shock, and Caustic damage, and the harmful status effects Ignited, Electrified, and Melting. The higher the resilience, the less such damage is taken and the slower the build-up of these status effects.

As players progress through the game and complete many of the challenges that lie in wait, there will be bonuses added to their Slayer Traits. This makes them more powerful and well-balanced with some work put in, so be sure to chase those down if there is a need to improve a Slayer's abilities to withstand the hordes.

Dead Island 2 will launch on 21 April on the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
