A big part of the fun in Dead Island 2 is the myriad ways in which players can inflict harm upon the hungry zombie masses. Picking a favorite from bladed and blunt weapons, or even firearms, can be hard, but the Slayer is also a competent instrument of destruction with enhanced strength and agility.
Besides the normal kicks and pushes, a smart Slayer also knows how to utilize the more powerful and enhanced kicks, alongside slides, to complement any combat strategy. For players hoping to pick up mastery over how to dropkick and slide effectively in Dead Island 2, this is the right place to start.
How to Dropkick in Dead Island 2
Whether it is against a singular foe or facing off against a bunch of undead, unleashing a dropkick can help clear a crowd, or send an unfortunate enemy into a hazardous environment. That said, the ability to do so is not instantly available in the game.
Players will start off with just a flying kick attack first. Only after progressing past the first quest at the Halperin Hotel, then will they be rewarded with the dropkick ability card. Head into the Skills menu, and select the Dropkick skill card to become active.
To perform the dropkick, players should build up some speed by sprinting, jumping, and then clicking in the right stick to kick forward. It is also possible to do a standing dropkick, although it is less effective. This works for any of the Slayers with the right card equipped, and the kick will do considerable damage and send the target flying back. Future upgrades can also make the attack much stronger.
How to Slide in Dead Island 2
Another excellent movement ability to use often is the slide. Similarly, the slide can become more powerful with the right Skill Cards, but on its own, it is useful enough for world exploration. It can help players get through gaps quickly, knock down zombies, or even extinguish flames in certain situations.
To execute the slide, Slayers have to sprint yet again, and press the Circle or B button that is usually used for crouching. This will send the player sliding for a good distance at a lower-than-average height, which can also be great for avoiding attacks.
Upgrading it will add various effects to the slide, including knocking down more enemies at once, and buying more breathing space to do more damage with conventional, modded weaponry. Be sure to keep these two skills in mind when out in Hell-A; it never hurts to be better at killing the undead.
