Slayers have a slew of optional challenges to choose from in Dead Island 2 that can adjust their style of play and create inventive new ways to mow down the undead across HELL-A. Some are more challenging than others. Some are tied to achievements or trophies. And most are deliciously brutal.

To complete the Impressive Aim challenge and unlock the Donk achievement/trophy, Dead Island 2 players will need to hit a zombie with a thrown weapon at 35 meters or more.

If the player has several hours to kill and feels like tossing every weapon in the inventory, it is likely that they’ll eventually complete this challenge. But there are a few ways to manipulate the situation to increase the rate of success.

The first and most important tip is to find the right location for the endeavor. There’s no wrong location, but some places are certainly better than others. Using the hills of Beverly Hills may add the advantage of a clear sloped sight line to the target. As a personal preference, the road just next to the Blue Crab works perfectly because the gate is a solid marker for the approximate distance the player will need to throw. Turning towards the Venice Beach area entrance or the beach itself from the Blue Crab main gate will always yield a few straggling zombies ripe for a lobbed weapon throw.

Choosing the Dead Island 2 weapon to hurl is also an important aspect of the challenge. It’s best to avoid heavy weapons such as hammers or maces to ensure that the throw can actually go the distance. Swords and knives are definitely the right moves here, but a simple pool cue could just as easily suffice. Make sure it’s not a weapon that the player has invested many resources into so that the need to run to go fetch it constantly isn’t a priority.

Equip the curveball meat bait. Place it in an area to quickly attract zombies desperate for a taste of blood, then run the appropriate distance away to ensure a successful throw. Aim high, but don’t aim straight up.

There’s more arc to these weapon throws than the player may be expecting. Remember, the zombie does not have to die for the donk to be successful. It just has to be struck. After a few solid tries, players should successfully complete the challenge and unlock the Dead Island 2 Donk achievement.

Dead Island 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
