Dead Island 2 is a ruthless zombie game that takes place in the semi-open-world of LA, now known as Hell-A. While attempting to keep the zombies at bay, players will require both melee weaponry and guns to protect themselves.

While these weapons can be upgraded with a lot of regular modifications, as the player progresses through the main story of the game, players will unlock even better perks to use. Unlike many of the average perks, these modifications require players to use the parts of the zombies they have defeated to allow their lethal tools to inflict various other effects as well as buffs to the player. With that in mind, these are by far the best perks that players should be using.

8 Tear 'N Sear

These zombie weapon perks are able to do a variety of interesting things. For example, Tear 'N Sear causes burning fuel to appear underneath a zombie once they have been maimed. This can be installed on a maiming weapon to make the chances of creating fuel a lot quicker.

If this weapon also has a flaming modification then players will also be able to set this fuel alight to burn the remaining zombies. Besides this, players will be looking to use this perk a lot later into the game due to it requiring Mutated Hearts to craft, something that only the Apex Variant of Mutators can drop.

7 Guardian

Zombie parts blueprints as mentioned can do a lot more than just boost the offensive abilities of the player, as Guardian excels in protecting its user. By simply having this perk equipped on a weapon while the utensil is in the player's hands will boost the toughness of that Slayer.

This is a great addition for any weapon that a player may feel leaves them quite susceptible to attacks. Therefore, Guardian will reduce the amount of regular damage a player is likely to take. Thankfully this perk only requires Oversized Arm Bones which can be earned through maiming the arms of Crushers, an incredibly common Apex zombie that players are likely to pass across all maps.

6 Mind-Blowing

Mind-Blowing blueprint in Dead Island 2

As the name would suggest Mind-Blowing is a modification that can be equipped onto a player's guns which will cause a zombie to explode if it is killed with a shot to the head. This forceful explosion is likely to send the zombies that may be surrounding it to go flying and therefore making them much easier to deal with.

Mind-Blowing is sure to make guns more approachable to players, especially as a Slayer is able to get more bang for their buck quite literally with each successful kill causing a lethal explosion. Unfortunately, this lethal perk requires quite a few different zombie parts, this includes Electrified Brains, Infected Sinews and Infected Flesh, making it quite the grind to craft.

5 Infectious

Infectious blueprint in Dead Island 2

Infectious is another brilliantly lethal perk that not only effects the zombie the player is directly attacking but also those that surround it. When attacking an enemy with this perk the player will inflict bleed damage to the zombie, if there are other zombies close enough these zombies will begin to bleed also.

While this may not seem as strong as other status types that can be used in combat. This gradual addition of damage that will cause the zombie's health to quickly drain may be the boost that players need in order to deal with a hoard.

4 Contagious

Contagious blueprint in Dead Island 2

While Infectious inflicts bleeding, Contagious can be used to spread every other status effect with a little extra work. When using a heavy attack on a zombie that is effected by an elemental damage such as caustic or electricity, this effect will spread to other zombies.

While this may at first sound weaker than infectious, with the right weapon build this zombie parts perk can be incredibly efficient in destroying the undead. Equipping a weapon with an electricity modification and then using the Contagious perk may cause players to stun large groups of zombies, this leaves them open to more attacks.

3 Hazardous

Many other zombie perks rely on status effects in Dead Island 2. Hazardous is another perk that aims to be one of the most lethal weapon perks in the game as players that hit a zombie who is effected by a status effect will trigger an explosion.

Unlike Mind-Blowing, Hazardous is used on melee weapons, it is also a lot easier to use due to not requiring the player to aim for a certain area of the undead. Instead, a player should aim to infect them with some sort of elemental damage.

2 Leech

Once again the zombie parts perks for weaponry doesn't only include perks that are likely to dispense some lethal damage to the undead, but also assist the player in keeping them alive. Leech is one of these perks that has the potential of keeping a player afloat due to every attack having the chain to heal the player.

This perk only has a small group of weapons it can be equipped onto, but the possibility of healing is always useful, especially on weapons that are unlikely to be effected by any of the player's skill cards.

1 Ferocious

Ferocious blueprint in Dead Island 2

By far one of the greatest zombie perks that players should consider crafting onto at least one of their melee weapons is the zombie parts perk known as Ferocious. Although it may not be as rare as many of the other perks on this list, and it doesn't apply any damage to zombies, this perk gives a well-needed boost to the player's Fury meter.

When killing a zombie with a weapon that has this perk equipped players will gain an additional amount of Fury that allows them to use it a lot quicker. Fury is a great mechanic in this game that allows players to tear a hoard of zombies apart in seconds. Being able to achieve this quicker means players are able to quickly dispatch of the danger ahead of them.
