Dead Island 2 is filled with environmental storytelling that lets HELL-A feel like a living, breathing hellscape version of Los Angeles. Though the mission structure tends to keep environments linear, the game’s world-building style allows its spaces to feel like flexible sandboxes that cater to various play styles with plenty of fun inter-actable set pieces along the way.

One of Dead Island 2’s most entertaining set pieces comes in the form of a directive in the main story mission ‘Michael Anders and the Holy Grail.' In this mission, the slayer will have to wander through a Hollywood studio where zombies are aplenty, and chaos is inevitable.

How to Explore the Sets in Dead Island 2

Exploring the sets is not as complicated as it may first appear. For players that enjoy roaming around Dead Island 2’s vast environments, finding the actual directive here shouldn’t be too much of a challenge. But for those who want to simply get to the fun stuff, head to this spot in Sound Stage 7 on the mini-map. The key to unlock Sound Stage 7 should be relatively simple to find in the dressing rooms.

From this point of entry, head inside on the left, just past the small brick wall. On the right, hop up where a white sheet lays over a wooden box area. At the top, there will be a sign to the left that says, ‘Filming in Progress Quiet on set, please.’ Pick up the circuit breaker just below this sign.

The breaker panel is not far from here. Simply turn around from where the circuit breaker was found. Jump down and turn right. Head to the end of this short path and bank a left to see the breaker panel posted against the wall.

Insert the circuit breaker and turn around to the three control panels. Now that the power is routed to them, the slayer can interact with them to showcase the effects. Hit the Temple Doors FX first and make sure to keep at a distance as the enemies rush forward.

This will prompt the next directive in the mission, which is to ‘Keep Exploring.’ Simply head through the now-opened FX doorway to proceed through the mission. The pathway should be fairly straightforward now, bringing the slayer to some high-production-value Hollywood sets.

Of course, as with everything in Dead Island 2, they're filled with zombies and inter-actable environmental traps that can be used to the player's advantage. Keep following the pathway leading to the yellow pinpoint to reach the next step in the mission: following the paint-riddled footsteps of Michael Anders.

Dead Island 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
