The Death of the Party is one of the first side quests in Dead Island 2. As the slayer first emerges from Emma’s mansion into the bloodied streets of HELL-A, a voice can be faintly heard over an intercom encouraging them to take a bit of a detour to help out another eccentric billionaire.

At the start of the Call the Cavalry main story quest, the player will likely hear the intercom’s call coming from Access Rd 782 or Alpine Drive depending on their path. Approaching and interacting with either intercom will initiate the Dead Island 2 side quest.

On the other end of the line, legendary actor Curtis Sinclair will request assistance finding a girl he spoke to on the intercom some time ago and who he has not heard from since. Sinclair will then open the gate to let the slayer look for her and other survivors in the area.

There aren’t any survivors to be found. Instead, the compound is overrun with Dead Island 2 zombies. To make matters worse, the player may quickly notice that getting into the mansion requires Curtis’s house keys which are not currently in possession. Head around to the backside of the main house, where guests are directed to enter.

In the garden, players will be immediately greeted by a small horde eating beside a patio heater. Fortunately, Sinclair is no stranger to the typical slayer-survivor methods. He will fire on the patio heater as soon as the player approaches, causing a small explosion that will deal a fair bit of fire damage. Kill the stragglers using Sinclair as the accompanying sniper. Once the garden has been cleared out, walk under the balcony Sinclair is standing on and look up to speak with him.

Curtis is eager to get somewhere safer, but his hip isn’t what it used to be after years of being a living legend. In order to get down the stairs inside his mansion, he requires the aid of his chairlift, but unfortunately, that contraption needs power.

The waypoint should direct the player clearly. The aim here is to head to the breaker room down the stairs outside. Be wary of a walker jump-scare. Inside, the player will immediately see the problem in the form of a sparking wire on the ground. Walk just outside this room and pick up the water jug next to the door. Toss is at the wire the same way the player would toss a weapon. The water puddle will conduct enough electricity for Sinclair to use his chairlift.

Return to Sinclair and tell him the good news. The next step will be to enter the mansion through the front door, but be wary of the swaths of enemies, particularly the ones lurking in the bushes surrounding the entrance.

Upon entering, Curtis will be standing atop the second level waiting for the player to flip the switch and activate the lift. Once the switch has been flipped, it will take Sinclair some time to reach the ground level, and plenty of zombies have been alerted due to the sound. Keep moving to avoid being overwhelmed and clear them out.

Curtis is appreciative, but before he can really express his appreciation, he will have to take his time moving to the next room. Once he’s comfortable, check in with him and invite him to Emma’s. The quest will now have been completed rewarding the player with XP, Curtis’s House Keys, and a decent golf club built for whacking the undead.

Dead Island 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
