It's been a long road for Dead Island 2, first being revealed all the way back in 2014. Unfortunately in the nine years since, Dead Island 2 experienced plenty of delays, gameplay changes, and changed development studios multiple times between Techland, Yager, and Sumo Digital before finally landing at Dambuster. While much could have gone wrong with all of the changes, the final product seems to have turned out fairly well, even if it doesn't reinvent the zombie genre.

Taking place in Los Angeles, or "Hell-A" as the game calls it, players explore an open world filled with different types of zombies to take out. In fact, Dead Island 2 even has a Zompedia to keep track of all the different types, with some fans calling it an undead Pokedex. The crafting system also returns, letting players splice together some truly unique weapons, though the game does have its fair share of standard gear to use as well.

Dead Island 2's gun arsenal includes rare weapons which need to be unlocked through specific means, typically by completing a side mission. Here's how to complete the My Mailman was a Zombie side mission as well as the powerful weapon it rewards.

How to Start My Mailman was a Zombie Quest

While walking on Alpine Drive in Bel-Air, players will come across a delivery truck with the words "Fastdel" on the side. When looking at the map, the truck is located right where the "A" is in Alpine. There's a large lockbox on the side which is unfortunately locked as well. Keep an eye on the ground as there's a clipboard which can be picked up which ultimately begins the Lost and Found quest called My Mailman was a Zombie.

Keep in mind that this quest isn't available at the start of the game. Dead Island 2 players will need to advance the main story to the point where they're about to head to Santa Monica. The side mission #Clickbait should also first be completed as well.

Find the Mailman's Keys

With the quest started, Dead Island 2 tasks players with following a specific paper trail by finding packages at set locations around "Hell-A." Looking at the notepad from the Journal section of the menu reveals three locations to visit around Bel-Air:

  • The GOAT Pen: 59 Alpine Drive
  • Colt Swanson: 70 Alpine Drive
  • Mr. and Mrs. Doe: 143 Glitterati Corner

Thankfully, these locations are fairly close by, so players will need to head to them and keep an eye out for a stack of packages at each place. Inspect the packages at each location to advance the quest. Colt Swanson's packages are against a black fence, the GOAT Pen's packages are down the stairs by the front door, and the final set is at the top of the driveway near a concrete wall. Ideally, players will want to go to the GOAT Pen first, go out the farthest exit, cross the street, and head up the stairs to Curtis Sinclair's house. Go beyond the utility room where his power was restored, turn left, go up more stairs, go past the guest house, and head into the cul-de-sac to find the packages against the black fence.

At the final location, Dead Island 2 players will need to take down a special Slobber style zombie named Wayne, The Mailman. Wayne should stand out as it is a hulking zombie that is able to spew poisonous attacks either at close range or by launching them in the direction of the player. Aim for his stomach for critical hits and soon enough, the zombie will fall.

My Mailman was a Zombie Quest Rewards

For those who manage to take down Wayne The Mailman, they'll gain access to his special keys that unlock the chest in the back of the van. The prize is the unique sharpshooter rifle called Raven that boasts extremely high damage, range, and an above average critical multiplier.

The weapon also comes with the perk Precision shots, which boosts the gun's damage after landing multiple hits in quick succession. Better yet, this effect can stack multiple times, meaning players can gain a substantial boost, especially when dealing with groups of enemies.

Dead Island 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
