Dead Island 2 has over twenty main missions and side quests for players to get their Zombie hunting needs out of their system, plus a few more hidden secrets as they move through the areas. Melee combat is a massive part of the gameplay in Dead Island 2, so stocking up on anything that can be used as a weapon is crucial. Some of the higher-level, rarer weapons are found during quests.
A good example is the Fool's Gold Lost and Found mini-quest, which has a special reward at the end/ Taking the time to complete it is worth it for players who want to add to their collections. It is also a good opportunity to earn some XP and increase player level. So, here's a step-by-step guide to finishing the Fool's Gold Lost and Found quest in Dead Island 2.
Clue #1 - Ransack Randy's Locker
The beginning of Fool's Gold mission starts with a Crusher Zombie named Dante on the Santa Monica Pier. Dante will be hanging out in the Lifeguard HQ, which is where the area's Safe Zone is found as well.
After killing Dante, he drops a letter titled "A Totally Legit Letter." This contains the first clue for the quest: there is an important package found inside someone named Randy's locker. Randy's locker is in the Lifeguard HQ towards the back with all the other lockers. After going through it, players will get the second clue in the Fool's Gold quest.
Clue #2 - Find Dante and Randy's Burner Phones
The next clue sends players to Dante and Randy's meet-up spots, detailing that they buried a safe containing a Legendary Weapon outside the Lifeguard HQ. Unfortunately, the player is missing part of the code, and must meet with friends to get the other numbers. Players can seek out either spot first and end up at the same conclusion.
Dante's Burner Phone Location
Before becoming a Crusher, Dante met a person called B down the alley by the stores, "for frozen yogurt," which is text code for his portion of the safe code. The actual meet-up spot is across the Pier Grill's outside seating area at a place called the Merry-Go-Round Cafe. When players approach the site, their objective updates to "Find Dante's burner phone."
The phone is in the short alleyway on the left side of the cafe, next to the trash bags at the back. Several zombies are in the area, so either fight or move quickly to pick up the phone.
Randy's Burner Phone Location
Randy's meet-up spot is near the Ferris Wheel back on the Santa Monica Pier. Randy's code for the rendezvous was to "get some ice cream" at an ice cream shop with a clown sign behind the Ferris Wheel. When players arrive, a Voltaic Screamer and other Zombies will be waiting near the burner phone.
Players should focus on taking down the Screamer to stop it from attracting nearby Zombies to the area. If players feel overwhelmed, entering Fury Mode is an excellent way to tear through enemies. Randy's Burner phone is on the bench behind the Ice Cream Shop, along with the final clue in Fool's Gold.
Clue #3 - Dig Up the Buried Treasure
The last clue for the Fool's Gold side quest contains the rest of the safe code, and players can dig up the safe and snag the Legendary Weapon. The safe is in the sandy alleyway on the southeast side of HQ, close to the fence.
Once players are close enough to the safe, they are attacked by a Zombie horde. Stopping at the Safe Zone inside the HQ and buying ammo and Med Packs from the Trader or using the Workbench to upgrade weapons beforehand is a good idea.
They must kill all the Zombies before entering the code. Once all the Zombies a down, players can open the safe and pick up Blood Rage. Blood Rage is a Legendary Headhunter Knife and has the Superior Melee Punctuator Mod and two Perks: Puncture Wound and Infectious. The power of the blade depends on the player's current level.
