For those unfamiliar with Dead Island 2’s fundamental mechanics, finding keys may feel like a daunting, elusive task. Still, at this point in the game, the slayers have likely grown accustomed to scouring across HELL-A, killing zombies in outrageous ways, and looting the remains for keys.

The poolside container key can be found near the Halperin Hotel area of the game, but claiming it may prove to be a time-consuming challenge for newcomers to Dead Island 2. As with most keys, defeating a significant enemy will grant the player the key. After that, the reward is usually only a short hike away.

How to Get the Poolside Container Key in Dead Island 2

It is worth noting that the specific zombies that must be defeated to claim keys only spawn after a required amount of story progression. Each of these spawns is different depending on the specific key.

To get the poolside container key, the player must first complete the main quest, ‘Michael Anders and the Holy Grail.’ After completing this mission, fast travel to Halperin Hotel and locate Sunbather at the Slobber Hotspot on the map, which is the area where the road has collapsed.

The name of the enemy will appear just above their health bar once targeted, so make sure not to waste resources taking down other slobbers in their stead (unless the player is looking to grind out with some more zombie killing).

Defeating Sunbather isn’t exactly an easy feat if the slayer likes to stay up close and personal. Be wary of the acid spittle that needs to be dodged with pinpoint accuracy between smacking them, or if the player has an arsenal of ranged weapons, feel free to take Sunbather down by shooting from a distance. Either way, once Sunbather is defeated, they will drop the poolside container key.

Once the key has been added to the inventory, head back to the hotel at the opposite end of Palms Boulevard. Head to the acid pool on the outside of the hotel. Just around the other end of the pool is a sectional filled with some acid-pus ball things. A colorful sign inside reads, ‘Things will be fine,’ and just below this sign is the container that can now be opened with the key. Handle the pus-filled enemies however the player deems fit and open the container to claim the prize inside.

The poolside container contains a valuable weapon. There are plenty of other Dead Island 2 locations to investigate across HELL-A that are sure to reap similar benefits for curious slayers.

Dead Island 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
