Dead Island 2 taunts players with many locked chests and boxes scattered around the newly christened Hell-A that cannot be opened without a specific key. Some of these keys can be found from random enemies wandering nearby, completing a series of side quests, or going to a specific location.
The Security Guard’s Cooler Key can be found early on in Dead Island 2 to open a tiny cooler stashed away at someone's office, but it may be hard for players to find if they are not looking in the right place. This guide will show players where the Security Guard's Cooler is located and how to get the key required to open it.
Security Guard's Cooler Location in Dead Island 2
The Security Guard's Cooler can be found in the security booth outside the front of the film studio in the Monarch Studios area. Players can naturally encounter it at the beginning of the Monarch Studios area while completing the seventh main story mission, Michael Anders and the Holy Grail.
The cooler will require the Security Guard’s Cooler Key in order to unlock, which seems a bit weird for a small cooler, but players will not have to travel far or complete other story missions to get the key.
How to Get Security Guard’s Cooler Key in Dead Island 2
The front gate near the Security Guard's Cooler at Monarch Studios will be locked indefinitely, but there is a busted open fence to the right that players can enter to get on the film lot. Once on the lot, players will have to walk over to a narrow alleyway next to Sound Stage 7, where a trailer belonging to an actor named Jimmy Montana is located.
The area is marked on the map above, but it is the only trailer in the alleyway, and the trailer's door will have Jimmy Montana's name on it. Players opening the door will find the actor being murdered by a security guard zombie. The enemy is not a special zombie and does not require any specific tactics to defeat.
Defeating the security guard zombie will drop the Security Guard’s Cooler Key. Players can then walk back to the cooler and receive a baton weapon that could be a bit more powerful than what the player currently has and is best to get the first time visiting Monarch Studios.
