Pokemon can be found all over the region of Paldea in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. As soon as players pick their starting Pokemon and set off on their adventure away from home, they'll soon discover that some Pokemon even like to hang out in the trees scattered about. The game doesn't really tell players straight away how to knock Pokemon off of trees and catch them, so this guide will go over how to do it.

How to Catch Pokemon in Trees in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Whenever players encounter a Pokemon hanging on a tree, like Pineco or Tarountula, they will not be able to interact with it until it is knocked down. To do this, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers must stand a few feet away from the tree (and the Pokemon) and hold ZL until they lock on to the Pokemon in question.

The Pokemon's name will show up if players have targeted it correctly. Once the Pokemon is locked-on, trainers need to press the ZR button to toss a Poke Ball at it. Doing this will start a Pokemon battle.

If trainers defeat the wild Pokemon, it won't immediately return to the tree, so make sure not to defeat any tree Pokemon if you really want to have it in your party or just to fill out the regional Pokedex.

The second way to knock Pokemon out of trees is to use your Ride Pokemon's dash ability, which is unlocked by defeating the Titan Pokemon in the Path of Legends storyline. Once Miraidon/Koraidon have the ability to perform the dash move, players can use it by pressing down on the left stick and then ramming into a tree, causing the Pokemon to fall out. Unlike the other method, the fallen Pokemon won't immediately start a battle --players will still need to walk into the Pokemon or throw a Poke Ball at it to initiate the fight. Of course, trainers that don't care about catching it can quickly send a Pokemon out to auto-battle it with the R button.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch.
