Leaks from Honkai: Star Rail's Version 1.2 update have teased the gameplay of a new character expected to release in the following Version 1.3, the mysterious Imbibitor Lunae. The massively popular RPG from HoYoverse has seen plenty of excitement from fans following its debut late last month. The game amassed over 20 million downloads within just a day of its official launch and has seen similar success to its predecessor, Genshin Impact. Now, one of the game's initial starter characters is set to receive a new alternate version in a future update.

Not much is known about Imbibitor Lunae apart from his apparent connection to one of Honkai: Star Rail's starter characters, Dan Heng. The character was first teased in leaks detailing character releases for Honkai: Star Rail's first few patches, referring to him as "Dan Heng IL" with a debut scheduled for 1.3. Many have speculated about the character's connection with Dan Heng's undisclosed past, kept a secret from players throughout the opening story of Star Rail. Now, fans are learning more about how the new alternate Dan Heng will play.

A new leak from Honkai: Star Rail leaker Hamz teases the gameplay for Imbibitor Lunae, debuting as a "trial character" in the DPS-focused Hunt class during Version 1.2. Imbibitor Lunae will feature a unique interaction between his Skill and Normal Attack with multiple casts of his Skill giving the character access to different Normal Attacks. Higher stages of his Normal Attacks add bonus effects like AoE damage and boosts to his Crit Damage. Imbibitor Lunae also features a unique mechanic for his skill called Reverse Scales, with charging his Normal Attacks costing Reverse Scale stacks rather than Skill points.

Imbibitor Lunae's position as a five-star Imaginary character following the Hunt Path looks to give him a unique niche to fill within Honkai: Star Rail. Imbibitor Lunae will be the first character bearing the Imaginary element in the DPS path, making him a powerful choice for an underrepresented element. Star Rail's launch roster only featured a single Imaginary element character in Welt, with Version 1.1 bringing two supports in Yukong and Luocha. Imbibitor Lunae is currently expected to release during Version 1.3 alongside Quantum five-star Fu Xuan.

Imbibitor Lunae's upcoming launch comes alongside a slew of highly anticipated characters planned for Honkai: Star Rail. HoYoverse revealed earlier this month that Kafka and Blade will serve as Version 1.2's featured five-star characters, with Kafka in particular becoming a fan-favorite for her role in Star Rail's story. Leaks have also teased several other characters yet to be announced, including Xueyi who appeared in the game's story and the heavily rumored Jingliu. Star Rail's roster is set to grow substantially throughout the game's first few patches.

Honkai: Star Rail is available now for PC and mobile devices. PS4 and PS5 versions are in development.
