Sandwiches are really important in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and have a long list of uses. The trouble is that they last for a fixed amount of time, and knowing what effects are in play at any given moment can be difficult.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet sandwiches can be used to affect a lot about the game. Players can influence which Pokemon they encounter, increase the power of their Poke Balls, improve shiny odds, and more. There’s a lot to keep track of, but it’s not obvious how to actually do so.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: How Sandwich Ingredients Work?

The good news is that there is a way to easily keep track of players’ sandwich powers and how much time they have. Players just need to hit one button to see what they have to work with at any moment.

How to Check Active Sandwich Effects in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Players can check their active sandwich effects or meal powers by pressing right on the control pad while in the overworld. These effects cannot be checked in other menus or during battle.

The active meal powers are displayed on the notifications menu. This applies to powers obtained by eating sandwiches during picnics or a meal at a cafe.

Alongside this, the notification menu can also be used for tracking ingredients for crafting TMs. Players can visit a TM Machine at a Pokemon Center and hit the + button while highlighting a specific TM. This will allow players to easily keep track of their materials for crafting a specific TM. The notifications menu can handle both sandwich powers and TM tracking.

Is the Sandwich and Meal Effect Timer Accurate?

The Active Meal Power timer in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is not perfectly accurate. When put side-by-side with a stopwatch, players have noticed a disconnect that results in seconds or even minutes of difference between the in-game clock and reality. This stems from how the games track time.

Because Pokemon Scarlet & Violet have endured debilitating performance issues, it has resulted in time seemingly passing slower for some players. Riding quickly on Koraidon or Miraidon and visiting certain areas can cause performance to suffer, making the clock run more slowly. On the flip side, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet modders running the game at higher performance levels have reported time seemingly moving more quickly.

These issues may be rectified if the games receive patches that improve performance and framerate stability. As of version 1.1.0, those issues are still present.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available now on Nintendo Switch.
