Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have finally arrived. The latest iteration in the long-running monster-catching game series by Game Freak. Scarlet and Violet introduce open-world gameplay to the main series after its success with Pokemon Legends Arceus.
There are several perks available for players, including an adventure pack for ordering the digital edition, a Tera Flying-type Pikachu by claiming a Mystery Gift before 28th February 2023 and some Rotom phone cases for having previous Pokemon game save files on the same console.
Rotom
The Rotom Pokemon was first introduced in generation 4 as a monster that can change form. Returning as a gift from mom in the game, the Rotom in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet has some customization options available in the form of new cases. There are four cases available for players who have played previous Pokemon games on their Nintendo Switch. Below are the four cases and the respective save files required to unlock them:
- Pikavee phone case
- Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu/Let's Go Eevee
- Ball guy phone case
- Pokemon Sword/Shield
- Poketech phone case
- Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl
- Arc phone case
- Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Obtain Save File Cases
To get the Rotom cases, players must speak to the lady on the steps in Mesagoza. She will say that the phone cases reveal past lives and then offer each correlating phone case providing save data is on the Switch console.

Other Methods
There is another way to spruce up the Rotom phone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Mesagoza is the biggest city in the game and has a huge variety of shops. Pick up some new clothes, accessories, or even a new hat to customize the in-game avatars.
However, for players looking to purchase a new case for the Rotom phone, a visit to Delibird Presents will have those shopping needs covered. Visit the store by walking up to the front door to find a selection of brand-new cases. Each one can be purchased using in-game currency and will give the Rotom a whole new look.

How To Equip Rotom Cases
Players wondering how to equip their newly unlocked or newly purchased case for the Rotom phone should first press Left on the D-Pad. After the menu pops up, go over past the other customization options to the Rotom phone icon and select the case required.
Once the correct case has been selected, press A to try it on the phone. To keep the currently selected case, press the B button to go back, and then when asked to go with the current outfit, select Yes.
The new case will be applied to the Rotom and viewable in cutscenes, and anytime the player has the phone out in the over world.
