Pokemon Scarlet & Violet bring with them plenty of big changes to the tried and tested Pokemon formula, one of the most notable being the introduction of Paradox Pokemon. This newly-introduced group of powerful Pokemon is made up of new creatures which resemble either the futuristic or ancient forms of pre-existing Pokemon. They're typically a lot more powerful too, with most having noticeable higher base stat totals than the Pokemon which inspired them, and special abilities which increase their base stat totals further still.

There are 14 Paradox Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet in total, 16 if the two mascot Pokemon Koraidon and Miraidon are included. Given their unique designs and their immense strength in battle, many players will no doubt be wondering whether it is possible to breed Paradox Pokemon in order to increase the chances of getting a shiny version or getting one with the perfect nature for battle. Sadly, however, those players are a little out of luck.

Can You Breed Paradox Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to breed Paradox Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. However, players will be able to catch multiple versions of the same Paradox Pokemon in a single playthrough, which will no doubt come as good news to those hoping to bag themselves a shiny Paradox Pokemon or get hold of a spare so that they can trade for one of the other version exclusive Paradox Pokemon that they do not have access to in their version of the game.

Catching more than one of a particular Paradox Pokemon is a good idea. This is because each wild Paradox Pokemon that players encounter has a 5% chance of holding Booster Energy. When given to a Paradox Pokemon, this rare held item will negate the need for the Pokemon to be on Electric Terrain or in Harsh Sunlight in order to activate its special ability. For those who don't already know, Quark Drive and Photosynthesis will increase a Paradox Pokemon's highest stat (or second-highest, if its highest stat happens to be HP) by a whopping 30%, or 50% if its highest stat is Speed.
