Titan Pokemon are some of the most fearsome bosses of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be caught like any other Pokemon. Each and every one of the Titan Pokemon are available for capture, in certain locations.

While the Titan Pokemon are special in their own right, they are ultimately just powered-up regular Pokemon. Unlike the Totem Pokemon found in Pokemon Sun & Moon, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’s the Titan Pokemon that serve as boss battles can be caught in addition to the other Pokemon of that species.

It’s not actually illustrated or discussed in the game, but it’s not hard to get revenge on the Titan Pokemon. In fact, going back and catching these mini-bosses can represent a power-up for many players’ teams.

Can You Catch the Titans in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

Players can catch the actual Titan Pokemon from the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet boss battles by visiting their stomping grounds after defeating them. The Titan Pokemon can be found standing or floating in place after the battle as a static encounter but will be normally sized. The Pokemon are effectively NPCs on the map, rather than a regular wild Pokemon. The exact locations of each one can be found here:

  1. Klawf (northwest of Artazon)
  2. Bombirdier (northwest of West Province Area One Central Pokemon Center)
  3. Orthworm (east of East Province Area Three Watchtower)
  4. Iron Treads (Asado Desert, exclusive to Pokemon Violet)
  5. Great Tusk (Asado Desert, exclusive to Pokemon Scarlet)
  6. Tatsugiri (Eastern Casseroya Lake)

Players are unable to run into them, and cannot start an auto-battle with them using the Let’s Go feature. The only way to battle them is by talking with them, similar to the legendary encounters in past Pokemon games. Once a battle is initiated with them, players can catch them the same way they would with any other Pokemon.

The Titan Pokemon are distinct from most Pokemon of that species due to their high IVs. Each one is guaranteed to have 30 IVs in each stat, making them stronger than other Pokemon of the same species caught in the wild.

Beyond that, each of the Titan Pokemon can be caught in the wild. They appear in a variety of locations across the Paldea region.

How to Catch Klawf

Klawf can be commonly found in the rocky areas of South Province Area Three, to the west of Artazon. Klawf can be found scuttling on the ground, but will also attach themselves to cliffs and drop down when the trainer approaches.

How to Catch Bombirdier

bombirdier (1)

Bombirdier can be found throughout West Province Area One as a relatively rare encounter. However, the easiest place to find it is along the beaches of southwestern Paldea. Bombardier can be found flying over the sea during the day along the coast of the region, and is easier to find for players who haven’t unlocked all of Koraidon’s or Miraidon’s abilities.

How to Catch Orthworm

Orthworm can be found in the desert portion of East Province Area Three or the Asado Desert in the west. The Pokemon is relatively common in both areas, but is often found mostly buried underground, with only its face visible. It will burrow further down when the trainer approaches and may seemingly be inaccessible when this happens, but fear not! Just stand in place, wait for it to pop back up, and throw a Pokemon at it to start battle.

How to Catch Great Tusk and Iron Treads

Iron Treads is the Quaking Earth Titan in Pokemon Violet while Great Tusk takes on that role in Pokemon Scarlet. These Pokemon are exclusive to those respective games.

Alongside the Titan version that can be caught in the Asado Desert, the Pokemon can be found as a regular spawn in the lower levels of Area Zero, one of the last accessible areas of the game. The catchable Titan versions of Iron Treads and Great Tusk are unique, as they allow players to catch and use the Pokemon well before they can be found regularly in the wild.

How to Catch Tatsugiri

Tatsugiri can be found in the water and the shores surrounding Casseroya Lake in the western portion of Paldea. There are three different colors of Tatsugiri that have different abilities in battle when combined with Dondozo, but the Titan Pokemon version is orange. These can be found on and around the easternmost islands of Casseroya Lake. Unfortunately, there is no accompanying Titan Dondozo despite the two working as a pair in the boss battle.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
