Over the years, Pokemon games have evolved from featuring "basic" Pokemon (like Charmander or Treeko) to ones with unique characteristics, like Ultra Beasts or Terastals. These new Pokemon types have unusual visual attributes that make them stand out from the Pokemon seen in previous generations.

And with the latest Pokemon-themed games, Pokemon Scarlet & Pokemon Violet, players can also catch Paradox-type Pokemon. And while these Pokemon aren't as powerful as Terastals (another type of Pokemon players can find), they're essential for Pokedex completionists. In this guide, we'll cover how to find and catch Paradox Magneton (Sandy Shocks), so players can add it to their Pokedex entry.

Sandy Shocks (Paradox Magneton) can ONLY be caught in Pokemon Scarlet.

Where To Find Paradox Magneton

As with other Paradox Pokemon (like Slither Wing), players will need to complete the main storyline to access Ground Zero or the Great Crater of Paldea, home of the Paradox Pokemon. Once completed, players can head to Research Station 2 (or fast travel there via another Research Station).

After arriving at Research Station 2, players should head outside to continue their hunt for Sandy Shocks Paradox Magneton. There are two possible spawn locations for this Paradox Pokemon. The first location is directly outside Research Station 2, and the second location is at the top of the rocky hill near the previous area.

There's a slight chance that Sandy Shock will spawn as soon as a player enters the area, but most of the time, players will need to battle other Pokemon to get it to appear. The fastest method of forcing Paradox Magneton to spawn is by enabling the Auto-Battle feature. While Auto-Battle is on, players can quickly clear the field of undesired Pokemon without battling them individually.

After clearing a certain number of wild Pokemon, players should see Paradox Magneton spawn at either location. But, of course, if players don't see it appear, they should leave the area (perhaps to a different Research Station) and return. Once players spot Paradox Magneton, they can start the battle and preferably use a Water-type Pokemon, like Quaxly or Veluza, since it's weak against that element type. Players should also keep in mind that there's also a slight chance for a Shiny Sandy Shocks to spawn (it'll have a yellow tint coating).

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available now for the Nintendo Switch.
