Recent Pokemon games have begun introducing new subspecies of pre-existing Pokemon. Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are no different, as they introduce Paradox Pokemon into the mix. Paradox Pokemon are either ancient or futuristic forms of Pokemon in the present day, one of which is an ancient form of Salamence known as Roaring Moon.

However, finding this ancient beast remains a mystery for most players, as only one location in the entire game will allow it to spawn. This guide will help Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players to find and capture Roaring Moon without too much trouble.

How To Find Roaring Moon in Pokemon Scarlet

Pokemon Scarlet Violet-Area Zero- Research Station three

First and foremost, Roaring Moon / Paradox Salamence can only be found in Pokemon Scarlet. Pokemon Violet players can only obtain a Roaring Moon via trading with a player from Pokemon Scarlet. For Pokemon Scarlet players, Roaring Moon can only be found in one specific place in Area Zero, and only after completing the main story. When first entering Area Zero, players can take the teleporter down to Research Station No.3.

From here, they'll want to exit the building and head down the path shown in the image below. Players should stop when reaching the tree the arrow in the image above is pointing to, as there's a hidden cave entrance next to it.

This hidden cave is the only area in the game where a Roaring Moon can spawn. Roaring Moon is also considered a tier above normal Paradox Pokemon and has a lower spawn rate than the others, so it may take some time before one eventually spawns.

How To Capture Roaring Moon

As mentioned above, Roaring Moon is considered a step above the rest when it comes to the Paradox Pokemon. Not only does it have one specific location where it can spawn, but it also has a much lower catch rate compared to normal Paradox Pokemon. Essentially, the catch rate is so low it'll feel like capturing a Legendary Pokemon. So how exactly does one capture it?

First, players should understand how to properly fight one. It's a Dragon/Dark-type Pokemon, meaning it has several weaknesses such as Dragon, Ice, Fairy, and Fighting-type attacks. Fairy-type Pokemon will be perfect for this fight, as Fairies are immune to Dragon-type attacks and highly resistant to Dark-type moves. A good choice for this battle would be a Pokemon like Tinkaton or Azumarill, both of which are extremely powerful Fairy Pokemon.

Second, given its low capture rate, players should stock up on Ultra Balls to give themselves the highest chance of catching it. They should whittle down its health until it reaches red and then continue to throw Ultra Balls until it's eventually caught. Putting it to sleep or paralyzing it will also increase the chances of catching it. Using these tips, players should be able to catch a Roaring Moon with ease.
