Players that want to complete the Paldean Pokedex in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet will need to get their hands on around 400 different Pokemon, catching or evolving them to unlock their Pokedex entries. It can be pretty crazy to keep up with, especially for players who see new or returning creatures that they may have forgotten about over the years. There are quite a few Pokemon that need to achieve a certain level or evolve via a particular method. Houndour is one good example, as many players have likely forgotten exactly how the Dark and Fire-type transforms into Houndoom. Even if players don't plan to use the Pokemon on their dedicated team, they'll still need to know how to evolve it in order to complete their Pokedex. Here's how to find and evolve Houndour in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

How To Find Houndour In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Thankfully, Houndour is pretty easy to find in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. In fact, the Dark and Fire-type is one of the first creatures that players can add to their team. The easiest way to grab one of these scary-looking pups is to simply progress the story until players come face-to-face with their Legendary Mount (either Koraidon or Miraidon depending on what version players are adventuring through). Players will find their Legendary companion being bullied by a small group of Houndour.

Unfortunately, the Houndour featured in the early cutscene aren't capturable. But soon after the scene ends, players will find themselves following behind the Legendary Pokemon as it makes its way through a nearby cave. Here, players will come across an array of Pokemon, including a few Houndour scattered about. These Pokemon can be battled and caught. Players can also find Houndour sprinkled throughout the starting area of Cabo Poco, as well as around the Poco Path Lighthouse. It's important to note that these Pokemon are much easier to find at night.

How To Evolve Houndour in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

PokemonScarletHoundoom

Once players have their hands on a Houndour, they'll want to evolve it into Houndoom. Thankfully, there isn't anything special that trainers need to do in order to unlock this Dark and Fire-type evolution. All they need to do is level up their Houndour until it reaches Level 24. Those that manage to catch a Houndour that's already level 24 or above simply need to level up the creature once to see it evolve into Houndoom.

Players that aren't interested in raising a Houndour can also find one in the wild and catch it in its evolved form. Houndoom can be found stalking the lands of North Province (Area Two) and are usually spotted at night, like their un-evolved counterparts.

Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet are available for the Nintendo Switch.
