Sunkern is a Grass-type Pokemon that was first introduced in the second generation of mainline games, Pokemon Gold & Silver. Sunkern, and its evolution Sunflora, are available to catch in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Paldea region, and this guide will show players how to go about obtaining the pair of pocket monsters.

Where to Find Sunkern in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Sunkern can be caught in the wild by exploring South Province Area One and South Province Area Two. Players can check out the map below to see where they tend to spawn at. They usually hang out near flowers, so keep that in mind when searching. It's also worth mentioning that Sunkern are very small, so it can be hard to spot them, especially when riding on top of Miraidon/Koraidon.

We managed to find a couple of Sunkern pretty easily by following the main road that leads west out of Mesagoza towards Cortondo, the home to the Bug-type Gym Leader, Katy.

What Level Does Sunkern Evolve Into Sunflora?

Players looking to level up their Sunkern should know that it does not evolve into Sunflora that way. Instead, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet trainers need to use a Sun Stone on Sunkern. It doesn't matter what level Sunkern is at; as long as the Sun Stone is used on it, it'll immediately evolve into its next form, Sunflora.

How Do You Get Sun Stones in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

The easiest way to get at least one Sun Stone is to simply complete the Sunflora Hide-and-Seek Gym test in Artazon. Otherwise, Sun Stones can be picked up off the ground and can be purchased from the Auction House at Porto Marinada. The items that show up there are random, so keep checking back until it's being sold.

If players end up with more than one Sun Stone on their person, they can always use it to evolve other Pokemon, such as Gloom, Helioptile, Pettilil, and Cottonee. Using the Sun Stone on any of these Pokemon will evolve them into Bellossom, Heliolisk, Lilligant, and Whimsicott, respectively.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available for the Nintendo Switch.
