In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, one of the exclusive Pokemon that can be caught in Pokemon Violet is the powerful Bagon line of Dragon-type Pokemon. Whether it is to obtain one to complete their Pokedexs or to add to their team to fight other trainers, here is how players can catch and evolve a Bagon.
Where to Find Bagon
While players can head to any of the large caves dotted around the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's Paldea region to find a Bagon, it is recommended that players should head to the eastern section of the map, namely East Province (Area Three). This area is recommended due to its large size and abundance of caves that can be looked through, as players will have little choice but to continue searching the zone until they find a Bagon walking around in the wild.
Another recommended location to find a Bagon is in Dalizapa Passage, located just north of The Great Crater of Paldea and just south of Glaseado mountain. Once players have arrived in this location, they will see a deep hole in the ground with a Pokemon center in the middle of it. Players can either ride Koraidon or Miraidon and jump down the hole or walk down it from one of the many Cavern entrances that lead to it.
This location is not as open as the East Province but has the benefit of being a cave where several rare Pokemon can be found, such as Bagon and Frigibax.
Tips for Evolving Bagon
To evolve it will take a little more time, as all dragon-type pseudo-legendary Pokemon are late to evolve. Once a Bagon has been captured, players will need to level their little Dragon until it reaches level 30 when it will evolve into the shielded Shelgon, and then to level 50 for it to evolve into its final form, the Flying/ Dragon type Salamence. Here are a few tips players can use to help level their new Pokemon.
The first tip is to head over toward Casseroya Lake. This lake has a large number of powerful Pokemon of level 50 or higher, which can be battled with Bagon in the party in order to gather experience quickly.
The second tip for players is to complete four, five, and six-star Tera raids in order to collect EXP candy, which can be fed to Bagon and Shelgon to quickly level it to the required levels.
If players are playing Pokemon Scarlet, the only way they will be able to receive a Bagon is to trade for it with another player, as Bagon is exclusive to Pokemon Violet. Otherwise, they will have to catch the paradox Pokemon Roaring Moon, an ancient version of Salamence.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are now available on Nintendo Switch.
