Aside from its own, Gen 3 is one of the most well-represented generations of Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. A number of beloved Gen 3 Pokemon made the cut for the games, including fan-favorite Gardevoir, PvP legend Salamence, and of course, Whiscash and Barboach. While Whiscash doesn't have the highest base stats, it has good defensive typing that eliminates the threat of Electric-type moves to the Water-type. Here's how to get both Barboach and Whiscash in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
Where to Find Barboach in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
As its habitat entry states, Barboach can be found in ponds and deep underwater. This means players should look for isolated ponds in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, as it's likely Barboach can be found there. Failing that, it can occasionally be found in ocean regions. Regardless, it is a more common spawn than its evolution, so players should consider checking the following areas for a Barboach instead of trying to find a wild Whiscash:
- South Province (Area One)
- South Province (Area Four)
- South Province (Area Six)
- South Province (Area Five)
- West Province (Area Three)
- Tagtree Thicket
- East Province (Area Three)
- Casseroya Lake
- Glaseado Mountain
- North Province (Area One)
- North Province (Area Two)
How to Evolve Barboach in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Barboach evolves into Whiscash at Level 30, with no other evolution trick required. Players can get Barboach to Level 30 fairly easily by utilizing the game's built-in EXP Share, EXP Candies, and Rare Candies. EXP Share cannot be turned off in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, so players don't need to do anything to turn it off or on.
Where to Find Whiscash in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Whiscash, as noted above, spawns slightly less than its pre-evolution. However, if players are looking for a fully evolved Whiscash, checking the same places is a strong bet as they can often be found in packs with multiple Barboach. The following areas should be checked when looking for Whiscash:
- South Province (Area One)
- South Province (Area Four)
- South Province (Area Six)
- South Province (Area Five)
- West Province (Area Three)
- Tagtree Thicket
- East Province (Area Three)
- Casseroya Lake
- Glaseado Mountain
- North Province (Area One)
- North Province (Area Two)
