Few pseudo-legendary Pokemon qualify as being popular, but Gible and its evolutions certainly make the cut. Many Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players will want to track down these iconic Pokemon and add them to the party.

Next to the main characters of the Pokemon anime, Cynthia is likely the most recognizable person in the franchise. The Sinnoh champion is regarded as one of the toughest bosses in the franchise’s history, with Garchomp being her most powerful Pokemon. Cynthia doesn’t appear in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, but players can capture a bit of her energy by catching and evolving a Gible for themselves.

How to Catch Gible

Players can catch a Gible in Alfornada Cavern and a few locations in West Province Areas One and Two. The Pokemon is only available in a few locations in the proper Paldea region, with its habitat page in the Pokedex seen here:

Alongside this, players can find Gible in the lower reaches of Area Zero. The Pokemon can spawn in packs around Gabite, allowing players to catch the first two evolution stages in one location. From there, it’s not hard to finish off the evolutionary line and get a Garchomp.

How to Evolve Gible into Garchomp

Gible evolves into Gabite at level 24, with Gabite evolving into Garchomp at level 48. Players can get Garchomp faster than almost any other pseudo-legendary Pokemon, with only Metagross reaching its best form sooner. Those simply looking to add Garchomp to their Pokedex can find the Pokemon in the wild and catch it rather than raising up a Gible.

There are two places where Garchomp can be found and caught. If players climb to the top of the Great Crater of Paldea and run along the top of it, flying Garchomps will sometimes swoop down and attack the player. There is also a single wild Terastallized Garchomp with a Water Tera Type. It can be found on top of a platform in a cave to the east of Porto Marinada:

Is Garchomp Strong in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?

Garchomp is one of the strongest Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Though fans may lament the lack of Mega Garchomp after it appeared with Cynthia during the Pokemon Ultimate Journeys anime, it has retained almost all the power it had in previous generations.

The Pokemon is fast-moving and can barrel through opponents with STAB Earthquakes. It’s also a very strong Terastallization option, as it can shed the double weakness to Ice-type attacks that is its Achilles heel.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available now on Nintendo Switch.
