Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is a dream for game completionists with so many things to do in the open-world JRPG. However, a classic goal for Pokemon players is to complete their Pokedex, a feat that is getting hard and hard with each generation adding 100+ Pokemon. There are 400 total Pokemon in the Paldean Pokedex, with more to be added, most likely. One of these is a small crab Pokemon introduced in Generation VI called Clauncher that is exclusive to Pokemon Violet.

Clauncher is the first form of the Water-type Pokemon Clawitzer. Both have pale blue shells, although the shiny forms are firetruck red. For those that are in need of a Water-type ally, Clawitzer has an impressive Sp. Atk stat and works well on most teams. Luckily, evolving Clauncher into Clawitzer doesn't take any extra steps outside the box with its evolution method. Whether players are looking to battle with them or want to fill their Pokedex, this guide covers everything they need to know about catching Clauncher and evolving it into Clawitzer in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

How to Find Clauncher

Clauncher lives exclusively in the oceans surrounding the Paldea region. It often traverses the beaches but can be found closer to the shores if there aren't many out in the open. The South Province (Area One) is one of the first places available where Clauncher can be found. Players can also have a Picnic which will cause the nearby Pokemon to respawn, giving them more of a chance to find one.

Clauncher will be weak to Grass and Electric-types but use them carefully to avoid making it faint. The best Pokeballs for it are Dive or Net Balls since it is a Water-type, but if hunting for one at night, players can also try out a Dusk Ball. Special Pokeballs can be found on the ground randomly or bought from Delibird Present Locations and Pokemarts. A status-changing move like Hypnosis or Blizzard will also increase their catch rate.

What Level Does Clauncher Evolve into Clawitzer

Generation 9 introduced some unique evolution methods and conditions, but thankfully Clauncher follows the standard procedure, and players can get the job done simply by leveling it up. Clauncher evolves into Clawitzer after turning level 37. Where Clauncher is crab-like, Clawitzer very closely resembles a shrimp with a massive oversize claw. Clawitzer has significantly better stats than its first form and is one of the few Pokemon that can learn the move Crabhammer.

Pokemon battles, Gym Tests, and Team Star Hideouts are all excellent ways to get Pokemon stronger. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet continue the tradition of automatically having experience point (EXP) sharing, so it will be easier to level it up. Another suitable method is through Tera Raid Battles and the Academy classes because they award players with Exp. Candies. Exp. Candy was first seen in Generation VII and will automatically increase a Pokemon's EXP when eaten. Auto-battling is another good way to increase a Pokemon's level fast, but it cannot evolve unless it levels up in a full-on match or eats an EXP item. Since Clauncher and Clawizter are Pokemon Violet exclusives those with Pokemon Scarlet will have to trade with a friend to complete their Pokedex.
