The roster of Pokemon available in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet continues to grow with the Mightiest Mark Greninja Tera Raid event. With the Pokemon available to be captured by those who defeat it, players also have access to the full Greninja line, including Froakie and Frogadier.

The Mightiest Mark Greninja Tera Raid event has proven to be another interesting challenge for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players. Though standard Tera Raid battles can be fun and challenging, Game Freak has done a good job of differentiating its special seven-star Tera Raid bosses from the rest of the game. These Pokemon have unique movesets that make them a stiff test even for a coordinated, prepared party.

The reward is worthy of the challenge, though. After beating the Mightiest Mark Greninja, players can capture it, breed it, and get themselves the full evolutionary line.

How to Get Greninja in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players are able to catch Greninja from special Tera Raid events. The Pokemon was first made available during its dedicated seven-star Tera Raid event, which started on January 27.

Players are only able to capture one Greninja during this event, and this Pokemon is shiny-locked. Once it has been caught, players have the ability to breed Greninja with a Ditto. This allows players to shiny hunt the Pokemon or get it with different abilities. It also allows players to get the lower forms of Greninja.

How to Get Froakie and Frogadier in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Players can get Froakie and Frogadier in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet by breeding a Greninja with a Ditto. Eggs hatched from this pairing will result in players receiving a level one Froakie. Froakie evolves into Frogadier at level 16, while Frogadier evolves into Greninja at level 36.

Though these Pokemon are available in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, players cannot yet add them to the Paldean Pokedex. This means that players can still get the Shiny Charm without catching any of the Greninja-line. They may be added to Pokedex expansion in the future associated with DLC.

Can Greninja and Froakie be Traded?

Players will be able to trade for Greninja and Froakie in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet in the future, judging from precedent. With other seven-star Tera Raid events, catchable Pokemon were available to players but weren’t immediately usable in online play, including ranked battles, trades, and Tera Raid battles.

Pokemon such as Charizard and Cinderace were eventually made tradeable and usable in raids. Greninja, Froakie, and Frogadier are likely to get the same treatment. Unfortunately, none of the three have been available in ranked battling, and they are unlikely to be added for some time.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available now on Nintendo Switch.
